I am facing issues with internet speed and response in everything which is non-native. Be it a browser which is anything except FireDragon, or be it Zoom VC. The network completely shuts down when using a browser and works in spurts but not consistent. For eg- when I am trying to navigate to a webpage, it would load for 7-8 seconds without a single byte downloaded, then instantly it reaches the speed it is supposed to. This is the case with most high-end server sites like YT and Facebook. At first I thought it was a problem with Chromium based browsers since I used Brave, Chromium and Opera and they all responded in the same way, but it was the same with Firefox as well. Today I discovered that Zoom is responding in the same way. All this has happened before when I was using the Gnome version of Garuda, and I updated the linux-zen kernel (or the system which I am not sure what is the cause). The same happened when I updated the Dr4gonized version yesterday.
I do have some clue into the matter though. It seems that when I initially installed Brave from AUR, it was an old version which had many problems with adblocking. So I had to install the brave-bin package. It seems that after installing it, some new packages were also introduced which seem to have caused the problem.
Please help.
It probably isn't a kernel problem since the network is still working fine with Native apps and there are numerous others who are using the same kernel without any problem.
It might be a problem with Network drivers. I checked the dependencies brave-bin relies on, and they are actually less than what the original required. But I also did see it upgrading certain packages. I am unable to access the list since they are already upgraded and won't show up.
I will try to get the list and also reinstall the drivers.
It seems the problem has been fixed, I simply went to Garuda Assistant and clicked on "Apply new configs/ Restore to default" and boom it is all working fine now. Even the internet speed which was seen in the native FireDragon has increased significantly in speedtests.
Looks like some upgrade or installation made some changes which has been corrected. I will surely inspect more into the problem caused and give an exact answer later.
But for now here is the post.
