Snapper Tools Window theme does not respect Sweet Dark Theme

Hello Everyone

So I made the successful change to 'Raptor'. Everything i can find is good except one very small query. When I open Snapper tools the theme is not dark but light. It is the only window like this. Everything else is dark and all the selected themes are the correct ones.

I've Google and fiddled and tried to help myself.

Can I make it dark?

So unfortunately, despite the likes and love hearts + a restart. It's still the same. Both the BTRFS Assistant and snapper tools are still light themed.

It is probably me but do you have any other thoughts?

I guess it was worth a shot, but in general talking nicely to your computer doesn’t have as much of an effect as it does with people. :smirk:

These apps need to be run in an elevated state, so they will use the theme that is set for root (not the theme set for your user).

See here for options related to applying your GTK theme to the root user: GTK - ArchWiki

Theme not applied to root applications

As user theme files ($XDG_CONFIG_HOME/gtk-3.0/settings.ini, ~/.gtkrc-2.0) are not read by other accounts, the selected theme will not apply to X applications run as root. Possible solutions include:

  • Create symlinks, e.g
# ln -s /home/*username*/.gtkrc-2.0 /etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc # ln -s /home/*username*/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini /etc/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
  • Configure system-wide theme files: /etc/gtk-3.0/settings.ini (GTK 3) or /etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc (GTK 2)
  • Adjust the theme as root
# lxappearance
  • Use a settings daemon (this is what most desktop environments do). A desktop-agnostic variant using XSettings is available with xsettingsd-gitAUR.

See here for options related to applying your QT theme to the root user: Qt - ArchWiki

Theme not applied to root applications

As the user theme file ($XDG_CONFIG_HOME/Trolltech.conf), are not read by other accounts, the selected theme will not apply to X applications run as root. Possible solutions include:

  • Create symlinks, e.g
# ln -s /home/[username]/.config/Trolltech.conf /etc/xdg/Trolltech.conf
  • Configure system-wide theme file: /etc/xdg/Trolltech.conf
  • Adjust the theme as root

Thank you, that looks like a sound idea.

Should I do this on both GTK and Qt?
Or just Qt which I believe is what the Dragonised themes are based on?

Thanks for all your help. It is appreciated.

I'm going to leave this for now for two reasons.

  1. Now I know they run in an elevated state, it doesn't matter that they are different.
  2. Main Reason! I come here for help, which I appreciate, not to reprimanded all the time by SGS.

At least it hasn’t elevated to the spanking level. He’s mean, cruel, an artist…
