Slow internet issue

Hello Garuda users!

i recently got started on garuda after trying distro after distro trying to find the perfect one for me and when i found out about garuda i instantly installed it and deleted the distro i was using which i thought was perfect for me but seems it wasnt after all

but well let me go straight to my issue:

so since i have installed linux on my computer my internet has been a little bit slow even tho in tests in speedtest.net and fast.com says i got 200mbps [speed i have in my internet plan] i seem to not be able to use more than 25mbps downloading apps, games etc etc i have tried changing drivers [using a r8168 network card] resetting os many times changing every setting i could find in my network settings/terminal and even up to disabling IPV6 but nothing has worked im posting here in the forums to see if someone can help me out since i got no more options.

problem happens while connected to wifi too so its a general network issue it seems

Internet speed tests are generally in Mbps (Megabit), while apps/games are MB/s (Megabyte), though on occasion I have seen the wrong acronym in an app.

In most cases, if you have a 100 Mbps connection your download speed would be 12.5 MB/s. Your numbers indicate that you are getting 200 Mbps and the second number is actually most likely MB/s, which would make 25 correct. The following page has information on the conversion, and a reference chart at the bottom Mbps to MBs.

Also keep in mind that low-end ISPs will prioritise speed test sites to make their service look better, but when it comes to general use you get lower speeds.

Given you are getting line speed with the speed tests then there’s nothing wrong with Garuda.
