I am booting the KDE gamer editions and hooked up my 2015 MBP HDMI output to an external screen. When I leave my machine alone it goes to sleep as per the settings I made for power management, but as I watch things unfold, the machine just comes back to life and sits showing off the Garuda Dragon. I timed it to be about 7 minutes.
So I am suspecting something like wireless networking is waking up the machine? The result is screen burn-in of the Garuda Dragon for I dunno how long, as I now close the lid of the laptop when I really want the machine to go down.
Anyway, what is the process of having a screensaver to save burn-in of my nice screens? And is there a common culprit to look for that wakes a sleeping machine and shows off the splash screen?

No. The MBP is a spiffy retina display and the external monitor is a nice BENQ 27"

I assumed that only CRT screens could be burn in and was promptly proven wrong:
OLED and AMOLED are particularly vulnerable. But burn-ins are also known from LCD displays.
Now I understand your concerns.

Do you have your bluetooth on while going to sleep? If yes turn it off. That’s usually one reason why laptop wakes up from sleep for a couple of people.
Also in powertop wakeup check if everything is disabled for you? If any are on you can toggle them off and then try to sleep. Don’t worry about making any mistakes here since any changes you make won’t persist reboots. i.e, they will go back to their original state once laptop is restarted. We are just testing things out here.

To launch powertop,
sudo powertop
to navigate to wakeup use Tab and to exit press Esc . Exiting usually takes a while with powertop.
