Shift + F4 does not open folder on fish terminal

I have been used to open any folder, e.g., /home/usr/my_folder, and press shit+F4, fish terminal would appear immediately as if I had pressed ctrl+alt+t and typed cd /home/usr/my_folder and this used to save me a lot of time.

Since I used pacman -Syu the command shift+F4 seems to be triggered, it seems like the OS is trying to open fish terminal, but it does not open.

Screenshot_475

At this screenshot you can see what happens. This icon close to the pointer appears when I press shift+F4, but fish does not open.

But if I right click on the folder, click on administrative actions and then click on open this folder on terminal, it works!

Very strange, I reinstalled dolphin and fish, but the issue persists.

ctrl+alt+t still works as expected, but shift+F4 on dolphin does not and "opening folder on terminal as admin" works

What is output of

pacman -Ss kinit

? Also post output of inxi -Faz as text, enclosed within ~~~

Are you sure this is happening since the last update? What was updated?
Maybe you could try restoring the latest working snapshot…

Not completely sure, I would say 85% certainty
Hundreds of things were updated and it already had caused me a lot of trouble, I would not like to mess up with it again >.<
Some time passed since I've done it so I would not like to restore to that old state again, but yes, since that day shift+F4 is not working as expected

It's bug in dolphin itself. See

I would suggest asking the question on KDE forums instead.

Kinit is installed for me. I tried reinstalling it, but nothing changed.
Following the suggestion from the other guy on this topic, I

I created a file called open_konsole_here.desktop at ~/.local/share/kservices5/ServiceMenus with this content

Actions=konsole;
Icon=utilities-terminal
MimeType=inode/directory;
Type=Service
Version=1.0
X-KDE-Priority=TopLevel
X-KDE-ServiceTypes=KonqPopupMenu/Plugin
X-KDE-AuthorizeAction=shell_access

[Desktop Action konsole]
TryExec=konsole
Exec=konsole --workdir %f
Icon=utilities-terminal
Name=Open Konsole here

Rebooted computer but the problem persists.

Thanks for your help I will keep searching for a solution for a while and I will ask a question there if I do not find any.

kinit has never been removed from my system, do you really think kinit that is causing the issue here?

  • Ctrl+alt+t
  • Type dolphin
  • From dolphin, right click + “open Konsole here” works
  • There is no error in the konsole I used to open dolphin

If I press shift+F4 nothing happens lol, but right click + open terminal works

Maybe not. But I am sure that it is something with KDE. And I am not KDE expert tbh.

Iirc we did in fact add kinit to our package list because of this bug, it has been known for quite some time now :eyes:

Shift+F4, WOW thanks for the shortcut :slight_smile: It works and will come in handy.

I'm starting to like Linux shortcuts.
