Amy will go to live with my 40-something daughter when my wife and I pass.
this is one reason why i would not want a parrot, they bond and they live a long time and get all emotionally effed up when their bondmate dies.
make sure birdy can see your body up close after you pass, they wonāt understand why strangers come to take you away on a gurney and you never return home.
you know what, thatās Richard Stallmanās stacktrace
Sure, parrots grieve. All things do in their own way. I have a cat who lost her companion of 5 years, and I watched her process that. Amy gives no indication sheād resort to āfeather pluckingā but Iāll be dead so thatās for others to deal with.
Sheās a Double Yellow-Headed Amazon parrot, one of the āHot 3ā and doesnāt surrender willingly. Sheās not timid (to say the least). She was on the CITES (endangered species) List for some time, but has since been removed. Sheās captive-bred.
Bad picture, 10 years ago when I still smoked.
sweet bird!
iād honestly love to have one around, but iām torn about how theyād handle my passing, i canāt afford to get one and i have 3 cats who would torment the living shit out of it lmao
I have 3 cats, 1 of them a semi-feral rescue. They do not mess with Amy. Theyāre afraid of Amy. Her beak can tear flesh (Iām missing chunks) and she has a temper. I was a little leery of the rescue, but we got him young enough so heās been no problem. That said, Amy is out of her cage from morning 'til night, and we do keep a weather eye on them.
EDIT: Amy has outlived several cats. And I love catsāhave rarely lived without them. But Amy has even consoled me, when one passed. Animals grieve, and some recognize when others do.
I am deleting the recent tangent of comments related to slavery and religion. The comments are certainly way off-topic for the āfunny thingsā thread, and whether they are appropriate for the forum in general is highly questionable. This is a technical support forum for Linux, after all.
Please, letās try to keep the conversation civilized and get back on topic.
Itās harder than I expected! I only got 14 out of 24.
Ditto. I was near-certain on a few of Tolkienās characters, but they sounded so much like pharmaceuticals, Iām surprised Big Pharma hasnāt grabbed them, legally or otherwise.
Gawdamit Escher!
This got me laughing.
Thank you, for the laugh
Escherās Cat.
