Set a number higher than 99 when batch renaming from dolphin

I don't know if some recent update caused this, but when I press F2 after selecting multiple files, I cannot set the value of # to be higher then 99, in the batch rename tool (or whatever its called).

Example: I rename my wallpapers to numbers (1.jpeg, 2.jpeg etc). The folder has over 100 images. I recently added a few more and had to rename them, starting from 156.jpeg. After selecting the new images, I couldn't set the value of # to 156. It wouldn't go higher than 99.

I opened up a post on forum.KDE.org and the person replied showed that their rename tool does not have this bug. More over they said that the theme might be of the issue. Changing the theme and application style did not fix it.

What Theme did you try instead of Dr460nized?
Did that guy explain why he points at the theme for this issue? It’s easy for someone to point at something without explaining why…
EDIT: Ok I saw your post, I’m late. loll Still can’t see the picture you posted so that doesn’t help me for now, I’ll wait tonight before I check again. I don’t understand what he says “is off” in the gui, maybe after seeing your screenshot I will.

There was nothing close to such feature (renaming files) worked on about the Dr460nized theme.

I’ll try to reproduce this, I cannot see your image (blocked from my work machine), if I don’t understand the exact steps you perform to get this issue I’ll get back and ask.

Ok now I see your picture. So easy to reproduce then...

I am getting the same behavior.

Note something important here.

At number 98 you see the "+" is still available:
image

At number 99, the "+" becomes greyed out:
image

Something is blocking to get more than 99.
This is not controlled by Dr460nized Theme.

You could open a "bug" or wishlist at bugs.kde.org. Or perform deeper search on internet to see if you can find anything about this feature.
If you are absolutely certain this was available before 5.27, then that change may be hidden somewhere in the 5.27 Change Log.

I did open it. I guess it got resolved today.

Man that's awesome!

That's what we like, when everyone contributes like you did. It's not that difficult.
Do you realize you just made KDE better?

I like that guy’s comment:

“Not setting a maximum makes it default to 99, which is not what we want.
Instead, set it to a billion, which should be enough for everyone”

Yeah it's a candidate for the Share Funny Things thread.

And you even anticipated another KDE user who entered the same bug as yours.
But your bug report was much better than the duplicate!
Good old school from our forum?:crazy_face:

The application to file the bug report was all pre-made. IDK why the other guy decided to write a paragraph instead.

People don’t necessarily read the procedure to follow for opening a help request. We see that… elsewhere too!

Does it require two users to report a bug in order for it to be given a thought/priority?

Absolutely not. It depends on multiple factors.

instead of using dolphin to rename your files, you could try krename. It does the same things, but with much more control. I think it can go over 100.

I did had to use that in the mean time.

So did dolphin, but it stopped going over 99. It was a bug that I reported.
