Screen flickering un LXQT-KWIN live USB | DualCore from 2011

Post xrandr output, please, unless it’s private. :man_shrugging:

You should realize that the problem is unique to your HW, either the HW model, or a malfunction.

We are just trying to do the impossible.

At this phase, there are two things I can comment.

  1. The problem lies in the kernel, not Xorg (so xrandr can only provide some pointers, not the solution)
  2. It is possible to relate to plymouth indirectly, since plymouth pops up in that phase and uses graphics.

As from the above, you may try some things.

  • Disable plymouth (it is complicated, so maybe someone else has the patience to give instructions, or you read Archwiki, or search the forum).
  • Remove gpu modules from mkinitcpio.conf MODULES array
    Tip: grep "^MODULES" /etc/mkinitcpio.conf
Need to run mkinitcpio -P after edit.
  • Install other kernel(s) to test (at least linux-lts)
  • Prefer GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=text in grub settings, as I feel the moon is against you

Definitely post xrandr output.

Best advice: Buy a different machine for your daughter. You can find much newer ones cheap.

Are you planning to answer one question a day?

True, thank you all for your help.
I will buy another machine as soon as I sell this one.
Take care. I¡m on lock down with my kids until 8th June duh... too bad, lol

Kind regards and thanks again.

Norbert

You take care, as well. Stay safe, mask up, get vaccinated as soon as you can. And don’t let the kids drive you crazy.
