RTX 4090 low utilization and performance

I am trying to setup garuda as my new OS and when I run the live usb everything works great, games run better than windows mostly and everything is smooth. However once I install the OS its somewhat laggy, I’m getting one third of the frames in games and gpu/cpu utilization hovers around 30%. I also get screen flickering quite a bit.

In garuda settings manager → hardware config my gpu is listed as unknown device name as opposed to the correct name that shows when booted into the live usb.
If I run GreenWithEnvy it complains “NV CONTROL X extension not found” and then says to double check the propriertary drivers are installed and support my gpuu whereas in the live usb it works and I can change my gpu settings etc.
I did check my drivers and according to the nvidia website 535 is what I should be using.

My theory is its not using the proprietary drivers but not sure how to confirm that.

I have tried:
-updated my bios
-reinstallling garuda
-system update
-reinstalling nvidia-dkms
-paru nvidia-535xx-dkms nvidia-535xx-utils
-sudo pacman -S linux-zen-headers
-lts kernel and everything above following switching
-“sudo dkms autoinstall” this doesn’t appear to do anything, no output to konsole

The first time I did a clean install of garuda I had the same issue and “setup_dxvk install” fixed it until I turned my pc off for the night then it was back to bad performance.

I’ve been at this for days and could have sworn I tried that but it seems to be working fine with x11. Sorry for wasting your time and thank you!

The ‘swoosh’ indicates a reboot is in order. Please do so if you haven’t since posting your inxi output. KDE needs the lovin’

No problem, it’s a very common cause of issues lately, so it was a matter of a few seconds  . I tried… Glad it helped.
