Rani Loading Wheel

Hello, I’m enjoying testing Mokka. Very nice. However I am seeing a loading wheel in the upper right corner of Rani, that never stops. I have 0 pending jobs, so clear does nothing. I cannot tell what is causing this. Please advise at your convenience.

Hello tfirkins

Welcome

you can try the git version i dont have this issue anymore. Remove garuda-rani and install garuda-rani-git (right MB) in octopi on same time then click on Apply.

If needed, just use

sudo pacman -S garuda-rani-git

in terminal.
Or use the TUI pacseek

How often does it have to be mentioned here in the forum not to use a GUI?

i know but it worked fine no issues and its easier for beginner . Some are not know how to use the Terminal

OP post his first post in this forum, how did you imagine he is a beginner?

Apart from the fact that you can quickly break the system with GUI, what is easier about octopi than copying and pasting the terminal command here?

Internalizing these things right at the beginning should also not be a problem for beginners.

Btw… I’m always surprised that octopi is pre-installed at all.

It is helpful when searching for applications.
As we wrote in the forum 1000 times

I’d say it’s more of a TUI like pacseek than a GUI like octopi.

But I’m sure others can explain it better than me

sudo pacman -S garuda-rani-git gave this:

Package (2) Old Version New Version Net Change Download Size

garuda-rani 2.2.0-1 -34.44 MiB
garuda/garuda-rani-git 2.2.0.r9.g22ea8dc-1 34.45 MiB 14.90 MiB

I accepted the new package. Unfortunately the problem still exists. And none of the Info and diagnostic functions work. Garuda XFCE edition does not have this problem. Rani and all of its functions work well. I’ll try installing Mokka on a more powerful machine and see what happens. Thanks all for the quick response.

It should be fixed in no time rani-git is updated often so just check it in a day or two after a update.

So the problem here was wearing shoes. I installed Mokka on real hardware and Rani works as expected. I had it installed on a QEMU VM under ProxMox with generous resources allocated, but obviously, still insufficient. The Mokka experience on modern hardware is incredible. I really enjoy seeing what KDE is capable of. Thanks again to all who where willing to help out.

You need to pass a gpu though for the blur an effects foe it to really perform in a vm, but glad you got it going.

It would be helpful to provide logs of running the app via command line (open terminal, run garuda-rani, paste output after observing the behavior)

Here is a screen shot of the VM specs. The system upgraded Rani again this morning. The second instance of Rani started without a loading wheel, and it completed a full diagnostic. I clicked upload to PrivateBin but it didn’t seem to do anything. I created a zip file with the full diag output, but that file type cannot be attached here. Do you want me to paste the full diag text into another reply?

Depending on which version you used before the spinning wheel might have been fixed in the meantime. As for logs, you can paste them into our Privatebin instance and link it here.

Great suggestion. This really helped with VM performance. I should have thought of that myself.
