Hi, I have a question about anti-cheats and Garuda. Specifically Xigncode. For some reason I’ve been able to get Xigncode to work basically out of the box. For multiple games. Garuda just runs it and no issues. Now my question is, how? doesn’t Xigncode require special permissions in order to function, and doesn’t the way Linux work contradict that?
TLDR: I don’t want to get banned and why is the Anti-cheat working?
Is this the spy app that is supposed to prevent cheating? So as the name says, anti-cheating.
Why shouldn’t it be installed without problems and not work?

You are indeed misunderstanding. Let me rephrase. My concern is, why is the anti cheat working when most distros are known for having issues with them? SteamOS for example was not able to run Xigncode.
It depends on the game Xigncode3 can work on linux though as its always been bad it can create false positives and get you banned. It’s like like that on pc for BDO but the rule of thumb for it on linux is dont use it with proton GE or proton experimental. Just normal old proton #.##. You may still get banned unless the dev has said linux is okay (like sega an PSO NGS) or that they don’t care. but even then its a toss up.
One of my pso accounts got banned using it on linux on the steam deck, Yet prior to asking them directly and they said it would be fine. Wasn’t a main account but yeah. Something to keep in mind. Unless publicly stated treat it like you might get banned at any time.
Even when I was using Windows to play games, I had already made it a habit to avoid games that required me to install a Ring 0 kernel driver. No matter how much I enjoyed playing them.
Or I am going to get banned for using Linux? Then take your game somewhere else. No more money from me.
It’s only because most players allow themselves to be bullied that manufacturers can continue to do such things.
