Problems with my Razer RZ09-02705F76-R3F1

Hello ! I’ve tried all possibilities, but nothing works. I think I’ll just lose all my program data and remake (again) a clean installation, if this doesn’t work, I’ll change the distro sadly. is there any way to backup the apps that i have installed ?

I realize your bios has been difficult to update, but this should be your number one priority.

In the interim you should reset your bios to the factory default. After resetting your bios try to boot into Windows or a Windows boot disk to update your bios.

Do you experience the same issues in a Windows (live or installed) environment?

If you can boot into Windows and the same problems exists there, then this points to a hardware malfunction or a bios problem.

I believe you did not mention which live boot environment you tested. I would definitely create an Ubuntu live boot disk and see if the same issues persist under Ubuntu. Generally, Ubuntu has the best hardware support in Linux, as they have the resources to custom patch many issues that other distros do not. If you still experience problems in both Ubuntu and Windows, then your bios or hardware is definitely looking like the cause.

If you can not update your bios from a Windows live environment, then wipe Garuda. Reset your bios, and install Windows in a single boot configuration. After you successfully update your bios, be sure to update all your Windows drivers. Also be sure to install any special Razer software your manufacturer shipped with Windows intended for your laptop. If these issues still persist in Windows after updating your bios, razer software, and drivers, then it is almost certainly a problem with your laptop hardware.

Not sure what else can be done after you have tried all I’ve suggested. If your laptop doesn’t perform properly after updating your bios, installing Windows, updating your Windows drivers and Razer software then I don’t think there’s any chance your laptop will function properly with any flavor of Linux.

The problem occurs both when I was on Windows and Linux (Garuda, Fedora, but I haven’t tried Ubuntu) with differents conditions, especially the running time was affected.

After some research, my BIOS is apparently already up to date with the latest version available, but I can try to update it again. I’ve also removed my secondary drive (an HDD) and I was able to play normally on Garry’s Mod for 40 minutes with the following temperatures: CPU = 56°C MAX and GPU = 55°C MAX. However, the PC shut down suddenly again after this time, but with more resource-intensive activities such as a large number of explosions and after reaching 0 frames per second (FPS) for more than 5 minutes, with full graphics enabled.

Many Razer Blade users have reported this issue, and for most, replacing the power supply solved the problem. But I’ve already replaced mine with a Delta Electronics specifically designed for my model. Others have reported that a clean install of Windows was the solution.

I’m wondering if removing the HDD added more running time, which makes me think that this might be a power-related issue. The thing is, the PC has been running like this with the same distro for months, and without a battery. I really don’t know what caused all this, maybe a faulty resistor or something else that overheated and stopped working, or maybe a kernel update with wrong parameters, or the latest Garuda update that created the issue…

Anyway, I’ll try what you suggested and hope it works, thanks again for all your responses !

From what you last posted, this doesn’t sound like a problem related to Garuda. If these same issues have been reported with your laptop model even when using Windows, then I imagine solving these problems when using Linux would be a monumental ask. This basically sounds like an issue that would be better addressed through your laptop manufacturers support channels.

I would think you are far more likely to find a solution via suggestions from other Razer owners, rather than from Garuda users with little/no experience with your model of laptop.

Good luck.
