Problem with alfa/mediatek wifi (AWUS036AXML - MT7961)

Hello everybody, i’m a Garuda user, not so skilled, just know basics learned from tutorials and trial/error methods applied to Arch during my teen-age.

After a blackout, last month (PC was off) my wireless device is no more recognized by the system.

EDIT:
under the boss laptop (win11) it works flawlessly

This is what happens:

Actually, im using the motherboard integrated wireless, i bought the Alfa device past year to have a speed-up, and worked until this problem.

I need some support from experienced users around here, can’t figure out what to try. Thanks in advance for your kindness :blue_heart:

Not really clear myself but can you try changing kernels and see if that helps? Try the lts kernel.

sudo pacman -S linux-lts linux-lts-headers

This will download the kernel

And while booting up from the grub menu go to “advanced options” and in that select the LTS kernel. If that works you can make it your default kernel to boot into using “garuda boot options” GUI pretty easily.

tried a bunch:
rt, rt-lts, lts, zen, xanmod. None of them worked.

I am not quite sure what might be the cause of problems but I am guessing a corrupt driver or some other package due to power outage. Can you try

garuda-update remote fullfix

This will reinstall all software your system currently has. Maybe this works :eyes:.

i’m a bit worried of reinstall all packages, tried with linux-firmware but had no effect. Something less “wide”?

edit:
maybe a way to check packages
Can really a power outage while pc is turned off, still corrupt packages?
