Pleasantly surprised

New user here!

I just have to say that using garuda has been an amazing experience and showed me that Linux has really make a leap in recent years. Distro hopping was my hobby but windows was always the OS i fall back to. But now I don’t have a reason to! Got garuda installed on my main gaming and editing PC manjaro installed on my laptop and just in case ill keep a macbook with me for classes when i get to college. I can’t believe I didn’t de-windows my life sooner!

Hope to meet you all and chat ill be on these forms for a while! Much love and thank you to the amazing devs who made quite literally my favorite Linux distro

Put Garuda on that MacBook, then install VMware Workstation 17.5 with Unlocker. You will then be able to use macOS 14 Soloma as a VM for mac functions while using Garuda as your core OS. Give that a shot cause it’s really cool how it works you will be even more impressed.

@Fenris Can that work on a macbook pro with the M1 chip?
I installed Garuda in a macbook pro with intel i7 but it wont recognize any drivers, I have to use external keyboard and mouse. I couldn’t find any guides of how to get it work, and I would really love to get some help with that.

In all honesty, I haven’t tried that personally

This is what I was following, this is how I knew you could do Garuda on Mac:

I actually did that one and it didn’t work. Mouse and keyboard drivers are missing. I had to use external ones :frowning:

Well then, I don’t know what to tell you. Perhaps one of the forum admins can assist with this one better then I can, sorry :disappointed:

I think, apple know how to exclude other OS on their new hardware.
Seems it will work only on old hardware, maybe check for asahi OS.
