Plasma 6 Task Manager doesn't expand

Hello! After upgrading to Plasma 6, the Task Manager doesn’t expand anymore on log in. I have to start some application in order for the newly activated icon in Task Manager to get it expanded.

Could this be your issue (I haven’t checked in detail)?
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=489086
If so, it’s probably just a matter of waiting for the KDE fix.

Yes, it would seem so. But how come it does affect only me? I don’t see many other raising this issue.

you might want to replace it with the updated (remove an re add) one since you upgraded to 6, some things did change under the hood.

Replace the Task Manager? How? By deleting the panel?

If your using it as a widget you can re add it, or re add the icon to so its full sized but i might be misunderstandin.

It worked! Thank you!
I removed it, rebooted. Re-added it (Garuda Default Dock). Rebooted. And all is well.

edit:
Unfortunately, it reverted to the same behavior. All went well after re-adding the dock, and after restarting. But then I shut the system down, went out for a few hours, and, when I came back and started the computer, the problem was back.

Looks like it needs Qt fixes relating to how geometry updates work on Wayland. KDE will be able to proceed in fixing the issue after this one is fixed on Qt’s side: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-126746

There is a lot of KDE bug reports marked as duplicates of the bug reported in @filo’s KDE bug link; so it is effecting a large amount of users I would bet. I don’t use a separate panel for just my icons-only task manger , so that might explain why I haven’t noticed this bug. There might be other workarounds for the issue as well.

Have you tried if you have the same issue on an x11 session?

I did. Works fine in X11.
