i am facing this same issue too "So I made some changes to plasma (basically appearance changes) and to the dock below (removed some icons, added some). Now sometimes when i log in they remain and most of the time i log in, those changes just vanish."

I have done this after reboot, what goes back to default are settings like tap to click and two finger options
after doing an update, all seems to fine now.
