PC is freezing after few Minutes

Hi all,

after some tome without Garauda and Linux, I just tried to install again. Installation went through without no problems. But now the system is freezing completely after a few minutes.

I have tried to deactivate as much as possible.
And I tried to use LTS and Mainline kernel.
Switched from Wayland to X
Everything with the same result.

Sometimes after the freeze is present the System reboots, sometimes it stays like it is.

Help would be appreciated.

MOD

This smells like an old error with Ryzen 7000 CPUs, the exact same error description and error message was already on the wild_wild_web last year (kernel issues and non-functioning iGPU).

The iGPU is not displayed in the garuda-inxi, is the iGPU enabled in the BIOS or is it set to auto? If so, then disable it under “Integrated Graphics” and set “Initial Display Output” to PCIe 1 slot so that only the 4090 is active.

Try a BIOS update, the latest version should be F30:

This usually happens with incorrect CPU/RAM settings or a power supply that is too weak. Check all settings in the BIOS - especially vcore, P-State, C-State, timings, etc.

Even though 7800X3D has memory speed touted at 6000MHz as being the sweet spot, the official support is 5200MHz for 2 slot config:

One thing to also try is disable EXPO. If it fixes the freezing, you can enable it and go down with the speed until it is stable.

Of course, please follow nepti’s instructions first.

Hi,
there took some time to find the time to test. In the meantime BIOS F31a was released and is installed.

EXPO1 and DRAM AutoBoost is disabled as well as the IGPU.

The rest of the BIOS is set to standard, but I will check regarding P-State and C-State, but currently I don’t know what to check and how to check, but I will try to find out.
Just some news regarding the logs here.
