Hello

Sometimes I have the Problem, that the PC doesn’t shutdown. It goes to login screen, and then I can click “shutdown” again. Then it shutdown normaly. But yesterday I have done this, and today in the morning, the PC was still on. No output and I have to shutdown it manually.

It doesn’t do it all the time. So it is not easy to look, how to give you more information. Firefox, Chrome and Steam are mostly started daily. For a couple of months, I have figured out, that the browser Vivaldi, cause a similar problem. After change the browser, it was fine. Now the problem is back.

Which logs I could provide you, to look after this Problem?

I had the same thing happen to me… two times, I think? It 100% happened around two days ago.

I selected Shut Down, confirmed, the screens went black, I went out. Came back a couple of hours later and noticed that the power light on my PC tower is on, but the computer didn’t react to any input, and didn’t produce any output.

Had to force-shut it down by holding the power button.

So, yeah, can confirm.

Hello

First of all i would update the System.

Last full system update: 2025-06-27

Use Rani or in the Terminal garuda-update or upd and reboot. Take a look if its solved.

I had this issue too a while ago and my solution was the firmware packages reinstall.

# pacman -Rdd linux-firmware
# pacman -Syu linux-firmware

i close steam if i dont need it.

The full update is not the point. There are days I have it. There are days I haven’t. Yesterday, after an update, I make this daily or all two days, was it fine. To close a program should not be the fix, because it has to be shutdown, with the system. What it sometimes does, and other times not.

I want help to troubleshoot this behavior. And it is good to know, that I’m not alone. I have this issue with my Geforce grafikcard before too.
