Today pamac stopped working. I have no idea what caused this. When I run the pamac command I get the following error message.

pamac: symbol lookup error: pamac: undefined symbol: pamac_alpm_package_get_has_signature

I've refreshed mirrors, I tried to reinstall pamac using 'sudo pacman -S pamac' - it says it's reinstalling but after it's done I continue to have the same error message.

I wonder if anyone can help please?

Did you try update before trying to reinstall? (can't tell because that inxi isn't the new garuda-inxi )

Here it is - Sorry didn't knew about garuda-inxi.

Hope this helps.

Hmm, you are fully updated, so that isn't the issue. I assume you rebooted after your last update considering your uptime?

Other than that, can you check to see if octopi is still working?

I rebooted after the update and also after reinstalling Pamac.

Octopi is working fine.

But I had also pamac-gtk installed and that is not working any longer.

It's really bizarre, I'm quite new to this, but I have no idea what caused this. And I'm trying to avoid reverting to a prior snapshot as I'm not quite sure when it broke. I made a few changes to the system in the last 24 hours and I don't want to lose them.

If you had two versions of pamac somehow installed at the same time, that might be the issue (if I am following what you are saying correctly anyways). Did you uninstall them both before reinstalling pamac (try pamac-aur from the chaotic-aur ) .

EDIT: seems pamac-aur just got updated. I know there is at least one report of pamac-aur not installing right. AUR (en) - pamac-aur . There might be fixing to do on the maintainers’ side.

Following up on checking Octopi - I looked up Pamac and I had pamac-aur installed. I removed it and installed pamac-nosnap. This has fixed my issue for what I use pamac.

But you are most likely right, something seems to be broken with pamac-aur. I will try to revert it tomorrow to see if the problem persists!

Many thanks for you help!

Most likely pamac-aur won’t be fixed until its updated. Keep on eye on the link I posted for updates (be sure to check the “last updated” time), and see if there are any more reports. Might save you a little bit of time that way.

Octopi or the other version of pamac you are using now should hold you over until then.

Hello,

So, try updating.
