Off Topic Chit Chat - (Silliness factor 5)

it may just be true!

lmfao ^.^

My generation need more of that Stoicism. Something you can read a follow without confusing yourself too much.

I need to pick up that Marcus Aurelius ā€œMeditationsā€ next.

What are you doing in Japan?

Just on holiday. Been with my dad and stepmum. Went to Osaka then Nara then Kyoto then Nagoya and now Tokyo. Here for ten days and been in different accommodations and hostels every couple days. Feet are killing me at 30k steps a day. Not used to it lol. Japan makes me realise what I wish the rest of the world was like. Kind and respectful people and clean and tidy and very safe. Makes roadman central London and Birmingham look like the Middle East in comparison

Of course where workers often have to be forced to take the 5 days annual leave they are entitled to.
Men go for paid cuddling (no sex) and couples go to hotels because there is no privacy in their homes.

Maybe Iā€™m misinformed  , but I wouldnā€™t want to have to live there, although I like clean streets too.

They are clean where I live, too, and there are almost always at least 20 days of vacation.

Well, I do not interact with strangers in real life, other than basic conversation, I would not be paying for cuddles with a stranger either, because, well, I do not know that person. Last vacation I took was in the summer of 2019, late February.
So, order, cleanliness and scarce human interaction sounds like a dreamland for me.

I donā€™t blame him.

Then youā€™re getting 2 more hours than me, my friend. Arenā€™t illnesses wonderful!

Everybody, everywhere, knows nothing about the follies of life when theyā€™re young. Itā€™s only illness or age, in my opinion, that causes reflection.

At one point in my life I recorded vital events for the State of Alaska. Every birth, adoption, marriage, divorce, and death certificate crossed my desk. I was the person recording all of those events, and issuing the appropriate certificates.

When you see a 30-something mother and wife that suddenly dies at the dining table, the kid that gets hit by a car and diesā€“the alcoholics that take their own lives after they get soberā€“the fishing craft and crew never heard from again and their deaths are recorded in approximate latitude and longitude. That shit changes a personā€™s outlook. Mine, anyway.

We are so lucky, my friend, that regardless of illness or lack thereof, we get to live these lives as best we can.

I am not sure why we suddenly delved into topic of illnesses but if it was because of my sleeping habits I assure you this sleep schedule is only reserved for the exam days. In my univ exams are held on consecutive days, i.e. no gap days between any two subjects. Thus the need to be a night owl. Other days I sleep by 12:00-1:00 AM depending on when sleep hits me.

Though I do agree with your outlook on life. :+1: mostly because I have spent my childhood stripped to hospital beds. I am healthier now so donā€™t worry.

noob, i sleep at 3am and wake up at 7 >=-)

Just mine. They accumulate with age. Itā€™s normal . I used to sleep. That was normal.

Besides, you school kids donā€™t need (or deserve) sleep.

I almost thought you were scolding me in sarcasm for my sleeping habits before. :joy:

Nah. But now that Iā€™ve seen how many weirdos are up and posting here at 3 AMā€“Iā€™m going back to bed.

You folks are even weirder than me, and thatā€™s going a mile Iā€™ll tell you.

Off-off-topic: just noticed that the /etc/sudoers.d files from garuda-common-settings (editor, insults, pwfeedback) are executable:

bsdtar tzvf garuda-common-settings-2.6.17-1-any.pkg.tar.zst
...
-rwxr-x--- 0 root root 31 ott 5 17:06 etc/sudoers.d/editor
-rwxr-x--- 0 root root 17 ott 5 17:06 etc/sudoers.d/insults
-rwxr-x--- 0 root root 20 ott 5 17:06 etc/sudoers.d/pwfeedback
...

I guess it doesnā€™t really matter, nor make sense though.
Shouldnā€™t they be 440 or 640 rather than 750, or am I missing something?

You are right, thatā€™s does not seem correct. I think they are supposed to be 644 but definitely not executable.

Did you make a change to that directory? I am looking at the repo here and it has the pwfeedback file as 755 (which I believe is a mistake), but the other ones are 644.

garuda-common-settings/etc/sudoers.d on ī‚  master
āÆ ls
.rw-r--r-- 31 jeremy 5 Oct 08:28 editor
.rw-r--r-- 17 jeremy 5 Oct 08:28 insults
.rwxr-xr-x 20 jeremy 5 Oct 08:28 pwfeedback

Edit: Fixed!

Weird, mine are all three executable both in the package and in the directory.
I only added a file there (since Iā€™m the only user of this machine I guess thereā€™s no particular downside to being able to run a couple things without typing my password) and that is when I noticed the executable bits.

Actually I too have the same permissions on those dirs by default,

sudo ls -al /etc/sudoers.d/
total 24
drwxr-x--- 1 root root 70 Oct 12 12:04 .
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 4710 Nov 8 23:35 ..
-r--r----- 1 root root 21 Nov 12 2022 10-installer
-rwxr-x--- 1 root root 31 Oct 5 20:36 editor
-rwxr-x--- 1 root root 17 Oct 5 20:36 insults
-rwxr-x--- 1 root root 20 Oct 5 20:36 pwfeedback

Hmm, something must be modifying that directory after it gets set up for some reason.
