Yeah it's really a darkside of English taught in India. We also had met almost same fate but inour 11th and 12th grade, we got and extremely passionate teacher of English who actually made to speak a little bit of English, which worked well enough that I was able to qualify my HCL interview (it was for 12 grade students)
Thatâs same for me too, dead on all social media platforms, whatsapp last used a week ago, made a discord account but dead there too, at last I am here only
May be because we all have a same purpose to be here
Which is FOSS!!!
Not really a darkside. I honestly donât like the idea of âenglishâ medium schools. Our kids should learn local language first in my opinion. Look at the new generation of kids they canât even count in hindi if the shopkeeper asks them to pay pachpan rupay they will feel confused at whatâs being asked of them.
I feel that kids should first be taught in local language and then from high school english should be taught because itâs a global language and hence essential if you wanna collaborate with ppl outside India.
I for one love hindi even my 11, 12th maths notes are completely in hindi.
Nice to see that , I was also habitiual of hindi till 8th class , then yeah slowly hindi became less used by me in my notes , even in the media contents that i used to see, that all happen without my realization that I am getting away from hindi, and now the situation is terrible some of my friends when we occasionally chat after months , we use actually English instead of Hindi
It wasn't totally my fault, the thing is that we were taught almost everything in English, our history, georgraphy, science all books are in English by default and if want to learn in hindi then then you will have to find a hindi medium school , but my education has been through government schools (Kendriya Vidyalaya) and there is no one who is learning these subjects in Hindi,.
And I also partially get confused when shopkeepers asks to pay using hindi. Because no one focused on that thing ever and that's why neither I .
I use Signal, Telegram, Mastodon, Garuda Forum & WhatsApp. That's it! All FOSS platforms except that last one. Deleted my Reddit account yesterday!
You just can't avoid WhatsApp.
It would have been nice if the EU's DMA & messaging interoperability (not yet implemented plan) was a real thing everywhere.
And I am active only here in this forum .
Thatâs not true⌠it took me a long time to get rid of it because of one particular person, though in the end it worked. That involves not taking part in silly class chats
Exactly, you have to be tough.
My girlfriend uses the rubbish (company, family, friends), I don't.
It's all about "Signal" for us , you just have to be persistent.
But since "Pegasus" and backdoors on hardware, nothing is safe in this world.
Well, certainly itâs true in India , not everyone have any perfect reason to switch from whatsapp to any other app in India, specially our parents , if I will give FOSS as reason then forget that they will ever going to listen to this .
And if all of your teachers and parents use whatsapp only, so yeah, I will also have to keep whatsapp alongside of things like telegram. Only people I can convince is my friends and they already have âsignalâ.
Sorry we donât have time for these things
I am busy person
Signal is kind of non-existent in India.
I still prefer it whenever I can.
I convinced 8-9 of my friends to join Signal, but they continued to chat in the WhatsApp group and left Signal within a few months.
My one friend still uses Signal, but he calls himself an Anarchist (like we all are one way of the otherâ). You see others donât have a good enough reason to make the switch and that too just for me. They think I am crazy when I talk about open source and stuffâŚ
You see my school, family and all these groups are on WhatsApp, so I just simply canât escape from it.
Enjoy life while you can.
Trust me, there is a world without computers, and itâs worth striving for.
Even through illnesses (like AIDS etc.) one should not give up physical senses.
You only live once, no matter what some religions promise.
I never said computers , I donât have time because of my studies , it is not like I donât wanna go outside , but basically I have to do a lot of things, my normal study hours a day is of 10 hours (even I donât go to school neither I am doing any coaching this time) , all of the 10 hours goes to self study. but after that what I really feel to do is to just take a sleep . Thatâs why I donât have time âŚ
Same goes for @Austin too.
So there are no girls around you, that's my idea of hell.
Well, maybe there will be better times for you after you graduate.
But Hyprland comes before the ladies, that's for sure.
No, I rejected a girl in 12th grade who wanted to make me her BF (last year) , because at that time I used to study almost 12 hours +2 hrours of traveling time from home to coaching. Now I am in drop year for preparing for the same exam named JEE (joint entrance exam) :
Not exactly, it is just a kind of refuge for me from studies, when I just want to do something different , I did just for fun mostly .
So there is still hope ,
sorry, I too often forget that I must not always conclude from myself and my âcultureâ to others.
I am sure you will make your way.
Oh man, I never had female friends in my life much less girlfriends. The only female interaction I have had is with my mom and sometimes my aunts/grandmoms when I visit them or my cousin (which happens usually like once every couple of years so yeahâŚ). I have reached the final year of my college and have yet to talk to girlsâŚ
So I donât think this is happening to me. . Canât say I hate it though I have sometimes heard conversations between couples in passing and only one word can describe it for me, boring. I just donât see myself enjoying that.
Though I am kind of an extreme case given my roommate says when I moved in with him we didnât talk for an entire week even though now we know each other well enough. I never even realized I did that until he talked about it one day in a conversation with me.
@SGS, you seem to be young enough to not get married, but the way you are strict and serious, you seemed to me older than @Bro.
Sure, only talking is boring, there are more things I canât talk about here.
Oh I agree with that.
Iâm a bit younger than our @Bro, but old enough not to get married again
And I am strict because someone here has to be the bad cop to keep the forum clean, according to the guidelines, including the legal ones.
I think we should have a live video call session in our forum, so that anyone can hope in and have a chat face.
Itâs really weird that I had been considering @SGS an old guy after all this time.
I mean after all time here at the forum being friends, we havenât known each other face to face.
I once did a video call with @Ankur couple of months back
