Off Topic Chit Chat - (Silliness factor 5)

I know how this could be sealed off but it requires additional hardware. What you need is a devices that you plug your ethernet port into, then back out to another router. Sorta of like a router just for this 1 computer. Then you need to monitor all traffic on the surface with some kind of program in your operating system and send it all to the device via USB.

What would need to happen is, traffic that is accounted for by the programs you and your operating system are using after plugging in a USB port match the packet data coming out of your ethernet port continue as normal. However if you have data coming out of the ethernet port that isn’t accounted for by software controlling your USB port, this is the back door data from your processor and then that can be blocked.

Sort of like designing an active filter but for packet data instead of electrical noise

A program like Wireshark, that is just for Windows right? A Pfsense router might be good.

You would have to build something unique from scratch to follow my suggestion. You need someway to look at all your processes, and behave like a VPN in a sence so that you can see what programs are running then see all the traffic going in/out of your operating system so you can do a hardware comparison over the ethernet ports to filter out that CPU only backdoor data

Makes me wonder about the Intel GPUs too. You know, I wonder if you can build a router from scratch, board (other than routerboard), router case & OS. Wonder why they don’t make more boards? Like Nano/Pico ITXs are good sizes. Sorry off topic.

There all backdoored as well, same with NVidea’s new CPU’s they want to build. Companies like Asus have backdoored there PCI bridges, North/South briges, Realtek have backdoored there NIC’s. Your cooked if you try to stop it, the only thing to do is do an analysis of what goes in/out of your NIC. Your going to want to give up your WiFi and start running ethernet or fibers around your home so you can be more controlling of the dataflow. This will help you monitor what these components are doing.

Oh and by the way, when people figure out how to do what I suggest…it won’t be over, your RAM controllers and voltage reagulators will help with the backdoors as well. So, I would start stripping the sleaving on all your power cables inside your system and replace it with copper sleaving so they can be grounded. Because yes, they will become an antenna to incercept data from crossing wires of your motherboard and used to reconstruct data from some other system.

As for routers, what we need is something like Mikrotik hardware running RouterOS using a RISC processor since RISC is open source.

Out of curiosity, I wondered if QubesOS had thought of a solution. This link was among their forum threads: How to use IVPREP and 1VYRAIN and Disable Intel ME on a Lenovo x230 - Community Guides - Qubes OS Forum

This seems to be an exploit of a specific model of computer…and this already seems like a significant effort, and I’m not sure if there’s any way to actually confirm that it’s disabled…

Then came across this: https://www.reddit.com/r/privacy/comments/1ic51s6/comment/m9qmvtc/

aqui en mexico existe.

Teonanacatl, Peyote?

Btw…
The whole issue of Intel ME and AMD PSP has been known for years. No one has yet been able to completely figure out how IME works. Everything that exists to combat it is only suitable for geeks, not for normal users, and you can´t be sure it´s 100% effective.

I understand the frustration about this. It annoys me too. But at the same time, people use smartphones with baseband blobs, Android, etc.etc.etc. Since 99% of users reveal much more about themselves via their personal, voluntarily used, portable wiretap and are easier to control, the issues with computers are almost negligible.

Yep. At first, I considered whether I should move the video to the Off Topic thread because it’s not news but clickbait. But I left it where it is because I know that many people are unfamiliar with the topic of ME/PSP.

Just sucks companies want to spy on us. I prob. over reacted, but I returned a KTC M32P10 4k miniled monitor last month the company is Chinese, they put spyware on some smart devices. Yes, that was not a smart monitor, but you never know.

I don’t want to get too political, so I’ll try to answer cautiously and I won’t name any companies or countries. Anyone can find this informations in a few minutes using their preferred search engine.

It’s not that they want to, they just do it, and not just since yesterday.

Spyware doesn’t only exist on Chinese devices. With a little effort, it can often be removed, but sometimes it can’t be. More serious issues exist, such as backdoors deliberately built into routers, switches, etc., for secret services and governments.
Devices are intercepted during shipping and additional chips are implemented for monitoring purposes. And so on, the list is long.

The fact that China and certain other countries have recently become more prominent in the public consciousness, while other players are hardly mentioned, is due to corresponding press reports.

As always… cui bono…
