If all else fails, since the arch maintainers wont fix the obs pkg. You can always just use the flatpak.

Now I’m not a fan of flatpak but when upstream just pkg it as flatpak most of the time its easier to use depending on if it needs out of the sandbox. But OBS is one of the rare ones that just works best in flatpak

lol its remind me one something…

that happened to me if i was on Garuda Raptor and updated regulary but if i remembered right its stopped with last year build . I did try the same steps earlier didnt work too.But after Backups and installed the new iso never had this issue again.i dont use obs much it is good for the psvita screen to it for playing but dont record much.Did you try the AppImage Version?

Since I am not an OBS user, I quickly tested this in a VM. Installed obs-studio-stable (chaotic-aur) and rebooted, works without issues.

Try to remove these decklink drivers, then reboot and check if OBS works without issues.

If not, then post the output from:

pacman -Qs obs

so that we can see which OBS version you have installed.

i was just about to look around,
first i found that there is the option to start obs without checking for other packages with

obs --disable-missing-files-check

but that didnt change anything, so i was just looking for that continuus-full build, but coudnt find it yet, but i can see that obs-stable version, so im going to uninstall obs and install the stable one …

meanwhile

Use pacman -Qi obs , -Qs list all possible packages.

DR;TL the hole thread.

@wirr did you use octopi? Why?

because i’m noob and then things like this happen

wirr@wirr in ~ took 1s
[⚡] × pacman -Qi obs
Fehler: Paket »obs« wurde nicht gefunden

I have the same error messages in the terminal, but OBS works.

Looks like the actual error occurs when loading ffmpeg, there should actually be more of ffmpeg codec´s loading:

Post the output of:

pacman -Qs ffmpeg
pacman -Qs ffmpeg
local/ffmpeg 2:7.1-6
Complete solution to record, convert and stream audio and video
local/ffmpeg4.4 4.4.5-2
Complete solution to record, convert and stream audio and video
local/ffmpegthumbs 24.12.2-1 (kde-applications kde-multimedia)

local/gst-libav 1.24.12-3
Multimedia graph framework - libav plugin
local/qt6-multimedia-ffmpeg 6.8.2-1
FFMpeg backend for qt6-multimedia

to add, i uninstalled obs with octopi, checked with pacman -r obs (+obs-studio-stable) and then used pacman -S obs-studio-stable to install it again, but still the same error

That is all correct.

Make a backup of ~/.config/obs-studio and then delete the obs-studio folder and try again. Maybe it is just a config issue.

i uninstalled again with pacman, and deleted the config folder(should be default anyways) , after that reinstalled, but still the same error :frowning:

Maybe I’m wrong, but to me this looks a bit similar to this issue:

There, they suggest installing:

If not working, it might be the case to enter a new issue there (obs-studio github)…

I also had a look at this earlier because I also suspected nVidia.
I tried to recreate it earlier on bare metal (intel/nvidia), no matter what I do (install/uninstall vdpau/vaapi/gstreamer/libva/etc), OBS works without issues. I cannot reproduce the error.

Edit:

@wirr try booting with a different kernel and then try to start OBS.

If you have no other kernel installed:

sudo pacman -S linux-zen linux-zen-headers

then reboot and select the kernel in GRUB.

ohh, yes i think you are right, didn’t run dmesg so far, but it prompts some segfaults:

thanks, im going to try that tomorrow

that was it, there was a conflict between libva-nvidia-driver-0.0.13-1 and libva-vdpau-driver-0.7.4-7 a which i allowed to uninstall vdpau, run an update, rebooted and now obs is loading normally again…

thanks for the help
