Just another of of an endless list of shenanigans that M$ perpetuates on unsuspecting Linux users.
Another thing you can try when Windows has messed with proper hardware detection is to do the following.

Fully power down your computer.

Remove all power sources including any battery packs.

Hold the power button down for 20 seconds to fully drain any residual power.

Power up without any battery pack if using a laptop.

Sometimes resetting the bios back to the factory default is also required.
