NVIDIA GPU cannot run games when I switch it in order to use it

I Have a Notebook Dell Precision 7530 / Intel Core i7-8850H / NVIDIA Quadro P1000 - Intel 630

But, when I activate both GPU, any game do not run on NVIDIA GPU, so I activate only dedicated GPU and runs all ok.

This occurs few days ago. Before, with 2 GPU’s active it wall all ok and I could choose between them.

Any suggestions?

And, later, I configure setup in order to accept only NVIDIA GPU, so in this setup is when I can play games.

Might wanna use Nvidia Optimus or Nvidia PRIME Render Offload.

Now I update garuda-inxi that I post. With two screens. I posted garuda-inxi with only NVIDIA before.

Might wanna use Nvidia Optimus or Nvidia PRIME Render Offload.

My system haven’t NVIDIA Optimus or NVIDIA PRIME, how I can activate it? Can I activate one of them?

Cannot activate PRIME:

DRI_PRIME=1 glxinfo -B | grep "OpenGL vendor string"
glx: failed to create dri3 screen
failed to load driver: nouveau
OpenGL vendor string: Intel

I activate it with prime-run:

prime-run glxinfo -B | grep "OpenGL vendor string"
OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation

But, the game cannot start in lutris. I added the argument, but didn’t start.

Wierd, it was setup configuration:

inxi -G

prime-run glxgears

approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.

300 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.000 FPS
prime-run glxinfo -B | grep "OpenGL vendor string"
OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation

It’s weird, because, before I didn’t touch setup bios, only I reconfigured it after the problem.

Now lutris run with prime-run. And setting only dedicated GPU in bios, runs too.

linus-torvalds-nvidia-■■■■-you2 Nvidea

Ups… Not only runs with dedicated GPU setting in bios. Setting both GPUs in bios, the problem persist.

So, asking for a suggestion, better set dedicated GPU in bios? I think that’s a goog idea keep both GPUs active, but with video application or a game running OK with dedicated GPU and others apps with integrated GPU.

Weird, a month ago this wasn’t a problem. What can you recommend me?

Only with this hardware configuration works:

inxi -G
Graphics:
Device-1: NVIDIA GP107GLM [Quadro P1000 Mobile] driver: nvidia v: 565.57.01
Device-2: Realtek Integrated Webcam_HD driver: uvcvideo type: USB

OK, the problem was X11. I switch to X11 in order to analize problems with vmware and “cicle multiple monitors”, so, I changed SDDM to Wayland again and with two GPUs I can run games or programs with dedicated GPU.

Why is the problem with X11? I don’t know. Why vmware have problem with “cicle multiple monitors” and I only I can use 2 screens starting in external screen as primary in vmware? I don’t know.

x11 is behind on maintenance and development and is in the process of being replaced altogether by Wayland currently.

OK, I stay with Wayland.

Thank you very much all of you for your support.

well nvidea is in a similar situation (but due to a chain of events started by nvidia) so some cards actually are kind of stuck on x11. hope it works well for you.

OK, thanks again for the assistance.

You may use X11 if it works for you, it isn’t “inferior or behind” wayland in terms of end user experience IMHO and in my experience. Well you may be inclined to use Wayland if you use a dual monitor setup. If it works for you, then rock it with Garuda !
