nVidia driver issues in latest Dragonized testing builds

Just installed and booted to the desktop without issue except for the nVidia drivers. used sudo pacman -S nvidia nvidia-utils nvidia-settings after the first update and reboot, and rebooted and was presented with the wrong screen resolution as in my previous post here. I thought since I chose proprietary drivers while booting to the live environment that they would be installed automatically during the actual install, not the case though. I ended up having to roll the systyem back to before the nViodia install to get my correct screen resolution. Is there something I’m missing?

hey normally get installed on the first boot welcome screen that has you update right after that it scans for nvidia drivers an asks to install

It normally ask if you want to do updates and you tell it yes. The nVidia drivers should be installed out of the gate since proprietary was selected during the loading of the live environment. The impression I’m getting is that for some reason the proprietary drives are not being loaded while booting into the live environment, cause even in the live environment the resolution is way off. I’m willing to bet if I boot to the live and check the drivers I’ll find they’re not nVidia like they should be.

The only issues I see are post instillation during the first boot garuda assistant is skipping over the driver detection. it will show it for about 3 seconds then move on to the app install prompt. When going to garuda settings → hardware config. It only shows “auto install open source driver”. So would require the user to install manually.

the other small issue i saw was in the live iso when clicking on firedragon in the dock it said it could not be found but using it in the application launcher it worked just fine.

Which is EXACTLY what it’s not suppose to do, skip over installing the drivers that is. That’s odd with Firedragon cause it launched from the dock in my case just fine.

The below is what I have in the live environment. That should be listing Nvidia as the driver since I chose proprietary before booting into it. I do believe the two issues are related.

OK below is after the actual install. When I ran the assistant it did flash something about nVidia, but it was too quick to catch what it was saying. As you can see the nVidia drivers were not installed.

This is supposed to be an extra prompt after the initial update as far as I know. I never had an NVIDIA device so no way to test that.

What does mhwd -l (not sure if it was -I or -l) tell?

Which is exactly what the GUI image I posted earlier has. I’m willing to bet if I wipe and use the last officially released ISO it will install and install the video drivers without an issue.

OK fresh install of the 1029 ISO. First screen is the live. Second screen is after installing before updating. The last one is after the first update and reboot. As you can see the nVidia drivers are installed in the live and in the actual install during install, and just updated if needed during the first update.

You need to install the DKMS driver an rebuild the intrams if you want them “for those with older gpus you need the 340/390/470 dkms”

As I already mentioned I have already tried the below, rolling back after each failed.

Rather than download a fresh ISO and wait for it to finish copying to Ventoy I used the one fron 04072024 I have. All looks good. Did the DKMS drivers right after the first update. Still no propritary drivers in the live, but I for one can live with that. Thanks for getting back to me on this, very much appreciated. And thank you and TNE for getting this addressed.
