If you are not sure if a game works, or how does it perform on Linux ProtonDB is a nice way to check. Users post there their experience as well fixes for possible various issues.
Why I am mentioning this, well, because ProtonDB should be the 1st stop for every-gamer when having potential issues or question if a game on Linux works
I play for the last 2 years only on Linux and I do not remember a Single player game that would not work; be it Steam game, GoG game or just a game stored on other media types.
Warcraft III and expansion runs straight in Bottles on my system, no need to change settings or runners. Just apply the last public available patch 1.27b. Intro videos is buggy, but as soon as the game launch it doesn’t play them again on the next launch. Nice to play some old school DotA again. I think the last official AI map was DotA v6.78c AI 1.4e “Farewell”
EDIT:
Windows games I’ve tried on Steam was Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour.
Another resource you can use is Steam Deck Verified. Although this page verifies which games work on this console, we can extrapolate the information since GNU/Linux is its base.
Games that have an anti-cheat feature often have a lot of problems or don’t work at all. Anyway ProtonDB is the main way because users report their solutions and you can see if more people are working.
yupp i can confirm it =) but many possibilities lead to … right? maybe in the near future linux has gotten better at all to get it running than 20 years ago.
This is also a matter of time, the more people will game on Linux the more of sorry excuses like “people using Linux cheat so we wont support our anticheat on linux” developers will stop to use.
