So I have made another account to log in with in my system with. Oddly enough, I don’t have much trouble report. However, I created a new login account to do my work on and went through all the installed software, and discovered 6 programs wont function in this new user account

  1. Signal - Will not start
  2. KiCad - Will not start
  3. Joplin - Will not start
  4. Linux Breakout 2 - Starts but then crashes right away
  5. Ungoogled Chromium - Will not start
  6. Element - Starts but keeps trying to connect to the matrix server

Now the account that I installed these 6 programs in runs them alright, but the new user account won’t. Reinstalling them seems to have no effect. Does anyone know why something like this would happen? This wouldn’t have something to do with permission settings would it?

Restart

Did you do this all in VM?
First thing, fix this.

Second, start all these programs in the terminal and look at the error message, then search the Internet for solutions.

OT
Nice that Xfce runs on this weak machine, but apparently with several problems.

A tingling experience

The first surprise comes as soon as we plug it into the monitor: while we are looking for the right monitor input with the HDMI cable in our hands, we suddenly feel a tingling sensation in our fingers - which is definitely not caused by anticipation of the new computer. Rather, the metal sockets seem to be under tension.

After a short series of tests in the style of the YouTube channel Electroboom, it is clear that the power supply unit is to blame. We measured an AC voltage of around 26 volts between the ground of the power supply and earth - not life-threatening, but definitely unpleasant.

TL’DR

No, this is on the main system VMware Workstation resides on

This has been around for a long time, it can’t seem to be fixed, it’s a non issue

Ya, trying to, all this happened after I created a new user account. It works on the old one, but not the new one

It’s oddly enough not that weak
