Hello,
new new guy here,
I'm a video editor working with Davinci Resolve Studio on Garuda kde.
I like arch based distros, especially Garuda, which has always worked well.
Recently upgraded to a latest generation i7 with integraded Intel graphics for it's video decoding hardware acceleration capabilities (Intel Quick Sync).
But I haven't managed to get it to work properly.
First I tried following instructions from archwiki: Intel graphics, Hardware video acceleration, before realizing the necessary drivers were all pretty much automatically installed by Garuda. So I started over with a fresh OS install to clear up any conflicts.
Still can't get video decoding acceleration working, as reported by intel_gpu_top
.
vainfo shows that things should be working.
guc_info and huc_info report that i915 is working and enabled
vdpauinfo ends with and error: "free(): double free detected in tcache 2
fish: Job 1, 'vdpauinfo' terminated by signal SIGABRT (Abort)"
When I try to play a h264 file with mpv it actually works, showing video decode activity with intel_gpu_top (actually just now tested with h264 file for the first time).
However, with h265 files (which is what I really need acceleration for) there's just a blue screen (it does show video decode activity too).
Then comes Davinci Resolve which shows video in a highly glitchy way, with lots of blue colors and lines masking the content of what is actually in those images.
I guess my question is, how can I get h264 hardware accelerated decoding working system wide?
And how can I get Davinci to detect and utilize intel graphics and Quick Sync hardware acceleration?
Deeply appreciate any help!
