Tow days ago I had a sudden power cut and when I restarted the computer there was no sound at all. I have had some issues for a while with getting the microphone to work and got it somehow to work a few days ago and was very happy for that. No nothing works at all on the sound level. I have checked the teh info in the sounds mixer and "Family 17h.... " does not show up anymore like it did before the power cut. I hav ebeen trying to read someinfo about this on Internet but I don't understand half of it, I'm not very technical, hence asking here. i have tried to restart the computer a couply of times but that did not help. Any advice please?

Install alsa-utils, if you don't already have it.

sudo pacman -S alsa-utils

Then run alsamixer from the terminal. See if you have any luck bringing up the master volume from there, or if not try toggling to a different sound card (F6).

Most likely not related to your issue, but, with a rolling release distro, you should get into the habit of updating more often. To do that, from a terminal, just enter

garuda-update

Well, this actually helped. and even the microphone works (still) so thank you very much and I will update more regulary (which I thought the system did it self). All good!
