No audio on a brand new motherboard & (err-19)

Hi folks

I have put together a new build and replaced my motherboard, cpu, ram and cooler. I kept my original install of garuda and did not reinstall. So far everything seems to be working as expected. However, I do not have audio coming through either my front panel or my rear I/O on the motherboard. Other sources like HDMI play fine. Looking this up bounced complicated topics so I’m not sure I am looking in the right places.

hub 8-0:1.0: config failed. hub doesn’t have any ports! (err-19)
I have searched the web and only found usb hub problems. I have no hubs and all my devices are connected to the motherboard. I get this error when booting, though unsure if related to this exact issue(only started happening when I put the new components in)

Are there any commands I should run to give garuda a refresh since I went from intel to AMD? And any idea about the above issues? I appreciate any help. Thanks guys

Hi @StoneCold , It’s common for audio drivers and configurations to be tied to specific hardware, and changing these components may require updates or changes to the audio setup, so You may need to install specific drivers for your motherboard’s audio chipset, i would highly recommend reinstalling Garuda Linux,Or you can try running system update (using garuda-update even though you look like you did an update recently, or pacman -Syu).

Doing a fresh install of Garuda gets my vote as well. Would I assume coirrectly that you Garuda was installed before the Plasma 6.0 update? If so then most definately do a fresh install. I had two instances of Garuda running, one installed from the 10292023 ISO and one installed from the 04132024 testing ISO. Both fully updated, tweaked the same, and all the same software but the 04132023 install made the 10292023 install look slow and slightly buggy.

I have installed garuda almost a year ago, you suggest to use newer iso? That way every time when release would come, fresh installation be needed for better performance

No of course I’m not suggesting you do a fresh install everytime there is a new ISO. I suggest that since you installed a new motherboard you might want to consider a fresh install. I’m willing to bet your sound issues disappear.

install lts kernel and reinstall pipewere pulse
then reboot with lts kernel not zen it worked for me in past may help you here is the commands

paru -S linux-lts linux-lts-headers

reinstall the pipewere pulse from garuda assistent
and clean up the pulse configs

rm -r ~/.config/pulse

reboot don’t forget to update grub conf if you use grub

sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

thanks for your suggestions! Gave LTS a quick go to see if that alone would help but no luck so far. Going to try your paru /rm commands once the new live versions drop as that is when I will be doing all my troubleshooting.

Will also give a full reinstall a try as others suggested. Will keep you folks posted. Thanks for your ideas.
