Hey new Garuda family!
I’m new here and I hope to get to know you all better soon. I just–after a weekend of fighting with flash drives–finally got Garuda Mokka up and running now.
The forum has already been of great use at helping me solve all of the installation issues. Who knew that copy and pasting .iso’s would cause the checksum to change? But, I also wouldn’t have figured out if it weren’t for that solution about Ventoy and Grub2 if it wasn’t for the forum either. Which was also definitely necessary it seems.
I’m so excited to leave windows completely behind, and nothing is as attractive and sleek imo as Mokka is rn. A little about me: I haven’t even been using a dedicated computer at home for a while. I’ve just been stealing my wife’s laptop at home when I do need to do things. But I’m happy to be getting more involved again since Nostr. I was using Linux Mint over the weekend, and it was nice and all, but this is primo!
So, I don’t need any help now, but I’m sure that I will be. So I thank you, in advance!
Well I don’t know if it’s impressive, I’m sure many here have been strictly Linux for much longer. Once I tried Arch, I didn’t have much desire to run anything else as my base OS. That was about 13 years ago I figure.
I tested many, many other distros for quite a few years before I figured out that Arch (and its various derivative distros} were where I wanted to hang my hat.
I’ve never been much of a gamer, so I had nothing chaining me to Windows. Gaming on Linux back then was pretty limited, and that alone kept many from using Linux as a daily driver.
Welcome to the realm of the free and well protected!
i have been using Linux for over 14 years now and have used quiet a few different Linux distributions, but Garuda tops them all. Been using this OS for over two years and cannot be happier with it.
I wish you great success on your Linux journey and we’ll be here if you need something and don’t forget to check the forum search first and always keep your garuda-inxi ready, this will accelerate our support to you greatly.
