Now I finally know where they got the old official logo from.

I hope he doesn't do that now on every photo he finds on the net.

@SGS has on more than one occasion had to remind you to perform searches yourself for information rather than pestering others. This type of behavior gets old rather fast on our forum, as members here are expected to perform their own searches of a rudimentary nature.

@mincha.9999 you have made only 30 posts on our forum, yet many of your posts seem to be of a dubious nature. A high proportion of your posts appear to be either requests/demands for changes or complaints about the distro.

Some examples below:

Also, other examples of complaints from unlisted posts of yours that moderators removed from view on the forum:

well i have lot of complains to do about , yell everything here

why the latte heding shows the user account privious style was better!

If you have that great a dissatisfaction level with Garuda’s default choices why not use one of Garuda’s barebones editions where you are free to make all the UI choices yourself?

Also slang/hacker jargon/leet speak are considered inappropriate on a technical help forum. Many of our non English speaking users rely on online translators to communicate effectively on the forum. Slang and abbreviated colloquialisms do not translate properly with online translators and should be avoided. Also, try to refrain from constantly using slang/abbreviated terms such as, U, ur, u r, moi, lemme, gonna, wanna, bcoz, as you are frequently want to do.

This is not a chatroom, this is a technical help forum. Use of proper English (whenever possible) in posts is the expected norm here. It is also best to keep your multiple chained posts to your social media sites. Posts may be edited afterwards to add further info, rather than creating long strings of separate posts. Posts in all capital letters are also frowned upon in most any forum on the web. Please adhere to the accepted standards we prefer to be maintained on the Garuda forum (especially on any technical help requests).

Your cooperation in these matters on future posts would be greatly appreciated. :+1:

Wikimedia commons is very good FOSS resource for pics - many ask for acknowledgements but that can also be put in file metadata comments.

How do you do that, even though it’s out of the question for us?

On the other hand, I try to make myself available to some.

Copyright problems are avoided if the individual user selects as background what he finds on the net and likes.

As a distribution, we avoid this by creating our own works.

For example, Eagle Nebula jpg : File:Eagle Nebula from ESO.jpg - Wikimedia Commons

was shared by European Southern Observatory.

I save the pic file and then usually take a screenshot of the permission, for future reference, which in this case is Creative Commons with attribution.

So if i used that image on a web page, I would edit the image to make small text note on in an unobtrusive font and color saying "Image c-o ESO c/o Wikimedia Commons. " (If I used it in a book publication or academic conference the text note would be formatted in a formal citation style)

Then in Dolphin, opening the file properties, in Details, there I can add a tag and a comment. So for desktop wallpaper, it is possible that putting the attribution in the file properties metadata might satisfy the attribution, without editing the pic, since it is open access materials.

Usually you can use the government space agencies' images after giving credit or something.

Very fair. Art does not need to be FOSS, for the simple reason a picture can’t attack you, but a program can. We are lucky to have great talents in this community, and it’s one of the things that make it so special!

I think random pictures of space from NASA or other space agencies don't actually require mentioning that, because they're basically public property, but whatever.
