Hello. I just updated my beloved distro, and it changed a lot of settings. I cannot stress enough how much I dislike when updates change my settings that I tuned over many years.
Scroll is too sensitive in some apps, and barely scrolling in others. Completely unusable.
Firedragon browser crashed multiple times.
Internet connectivity issues happening which kinda feel random.
Displays > Screen arrangement is useless. The screens appear too small and they have snap to edges, meaning I can’t even position them properly. I can just snap them to one or the other edge of the screen. Super inconvenient.
Display scale changed from 1 to 1.25 for no reason at all.
Introduced MacOS-like scroll motion where elements would appear wobbly, I DISLIKE IT.
I can’t smoothly transition from one screen to another with my cursor, it would be stuck and I’d need to move it really way further until it appears on the other screen. Dislike.
Touchpad feels different. Dislike.
My touch screen works more accurate now. Big LIKE.
Can we have a popup after update to ask us if we wish changes to how the system looks and behaves? This is kind of behavior I’d expect form Windows to mess up with my config just because they think it’s better for me.
EDIT: Cause you prevented me from posting further.
Answer is no. I am not bitter about things changing, stop coping and face reality. I can’t scroll in apps for starters, that’s not a “omg I dislike this” rather it’s “why did you ■■■■ up my system”. Browser is crashing, etc… Stop defending like there is no tomorrow and think of it as a feedback on your ■■■■ up. Thank you.
when you run garuda-update it shows you whats changing before you hit Y or enter. You do need to post your garuda-inxi to get help but, Arch changes are from the individual projects. So you would have to watch them as garuda has no control over them.
Your main complaint seems to be that a bunch of things changed on update. That is what happens when you install a rolling distro. If you legitimately don’t want any change, you should run a static distro offering a long term service release.
You have already been informed that we require your garuda-inxi output to render assistance. Unfortunately, your post doesn’t meet our forum’s posting guidelines. Therefore, your thread has been moved to the area for threads that do not meet our support forum’s minimum requirements.
To render further assistance we will also require a copy of your pacman install log.. If your pacman log is very large you can post it via a link to a pastebin type service such as:
You can edit your opening post (use pencil icon at bottom for this) to provide the information we require to render assistance. Without this information your post simply comes of as a rant or an attempted trolling.
Please help us to help you by providing the missing information we need to assist you.
Rather than editing in the requested info on your opening post, you chose to respond with a rant full of expletives. It is pretty obvious at this point that getting help is not your objective. This thread is of no benefit to those reading our forum, so I will be putting it to bed.
I the future please adhere to our forum’s posting guidelines by including your garuda-inxi and other required info. Also, please refrain from using foul language on our forum. This is a family friendly forum where antagonistic behaviour and swearing are not tolerated.
Thread locked.
PS.
You always have the option of rolling back negative changes using Garuda’s included snapper utility.
