New Post template, so people actually follow it

I think this forum needs a new issue template, so people end up actually reading it.
So much time has been wasted requesting information again and again.

Here is what I would put in it

<!--
READ THIS TEMPLATE BEFORE POSTING. DELETING OR NOT FOLLOWING THIS TEMPLATE WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE CLOSURE IF YOUR REQUEST

REMBER TO USE PROPER FORMATTING: https://forum.garudalinux.org/t/how-to-write-a-nicely-formatted-post-in-discourse-forum/

USE COMMON SENSE AND CORRECT GRAMMAR! USE A TRANSLATOR (e.g. https://deepl.com/translator) IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE EXPRESSING YOURSELF
-->

### 1. The issue
<!-- Explain *what problem* you encountered *where* when you *did what* -->

### 2. Attempts to solve it
<!-- Explain what you attempted to solve your issue. Leave blank if not applicable -->

### 3. System information
<!-- Post the output of `garuda-inxi` between the "~~~" -->

I wrote the template, so of course I'm a little biased. Personally I think the number of requests for providing an inxi has gone way down since adopting the latest template version.

In the end it really doesn't matter what you write there for some people, as they simply won't read anything other than their daily horoscope.

I think you treat the forum posters too graciously. Even though the template exists, you still regularly have to ask for the inxi output for example. If you just closed that request with a short notice, then, I think, more people would actually put effort into their posts.

We attempt to be friendly and not too draconian on the forum. However if repeated requests have been ignored, then I have locked many of these threads without the required information. Other mods also lock threads with regularity for refusing to provide a garuda-inxi.

It might actually help due to being shorted, which makes it more likely people read it. My 2 cents :yum:

The EnOS forum also uses an issue template and I think the fact that the top is full caps makes users more likely to read it. And it seems to work

I agree that brevity is good. However, the prior template version was way shorter than the one I wrote and it was ignored far more regularly IMO.

I can't recall any change of the issue template - When did you change that?

What about trying it for a while? We can still return to the current version if it does not help at all

If you feel it may help, feel free to alter it. Unfortunately, I think many will ignore any version posted.

It has probably been a year or so since the template was last updated IIRC.

Personally, I disagree with using all CAPS. We have a hard enough time trying to dissuade users from doing this without doing it ourselves.

It sadly remains to be one of the most efficient attention grabbers

We started with a pictogram plus short text, then longer text, it doesn’t help.

Maybe you make a YT video, I think that is now hip  because reading instructions is no longer hip.

I love 10 minute videos, for things that could be described in one sentence

I thought people got pissed off by CAPS LOCK.

I actually like this idea. Lock their thread and politely inform them that the thread will be unlocked once they edit their request and provide the information that was originally requested.

Again.

Nice to read that forum readers are thinking about how to improve the forum.

We have tried a few things in the last, almost 3 years, and have drawn our conclusions.

To change the text again will bring nothing as the last times.

I have various text modules to me right, so that I do not have to write everything again and again.

Everything said.

Short, sweet, and to the point. I LOVE it.
