Hi, relativly new user here. First i just want to thank all devs for making a linux built for gamers. Then i am just wondering if there is anyway to request help with getting games to run? If not would it be possible to make either just a place on the forum to ask for help or maybe something built into the OS itself. The last one would be kinda cool Just opening the Garuda welcome and opening either a program or maybe a shortcut to a irc channel to get help when a game is not running.
i know that the Steam gaming platform makes running games much easier with its compatibility mode, and extra command line options. i found that Proton Tkg works best to run the latest games in Steam. Use Protonup-qt to download and install the latest versions.
Lutris is a native gaming platform i also like using, because of its versatility, and ease of changing wine/proton versions.
Any Games you have problems running on Garuda?
Your first place to start is ProtonDB https://www.protondb.com/ Make use of the filter that comes up when you select a game to get tips for your hardware. Ie amd/nvidia. Normal search for the game and linux will help you as well.
While Garuda has a gaming edition. Other then kernel choice and pre installed packages and drivers. Any arch guide thats relatively modern will help ya. The garuda community as well, but as for step by step guides to get something going depending on the game help might be a bit limited. Though it never hurts to ask.
Done
Thanks Jeshu, i have been using both Proton and Lutris and they work great. I am trying to get Dawn of war 2 and 3 going, also silent hunter 5.
NIce thanks SGS
Sorry, i do not own these games. Have you run Steam and/or Lutris from a terminal and checked the terminal read outs to see what could cause the games not to play? i found that to be helpful at times to find what the issues thrown up are, to see if there is a way around it.
These might be helpful
Hunter 5
[i found this entries for Steam]
Lutris
Dawn of war 1, 2,3 (Steam)

Lutris
it seems like Dawn of War ought to be playable, but people have less success with Hunter 5 by the looks of it.
