First, I thought it was a matter of just changing the background so went to Menu/Settings/Desktop to get this…
Clearly this didn’t work, so I referred to a previous post of something which I thought happened before.
So in the end, after redoing this, I thought I would get a desktop that would look similar to what I had before, this:
I tried to install all the packages again (which didn’t work). I also tried to reset the configs with Garuda Assistant (which again, didn’t work).
I used BleachBit with only the following options selected (if my memory serves me correctly)
After following SGS’s advice, I cleaned out the configs so I don’t remember what I had before.
This is where it gets complicated…so I have this program called Insync installed on my computer. I have a Dropbox cloud share for my university work and some other odd files. I wanted to leave them on the could rather then have access to them stored locally on my hard drive, so I un-synchronized them.
So in other words, I removed “CloudMiscellaneous” off my drive so that it was stored in the cloud space.
Now once I decoupled the files off my hard drive, Insync threw these files into my local trash bin. I found this odd, but, never the less, that is how this program handled it.
I then went to the trash bin to empty it out, and it had like 400+ gigs worth of files in it. Just clicking “Empty Trash” on the bottom of the screen, I had noticed my system eating up so much processing power that I could just barely move the mouse. Now why all this would happen when you empty the trash? I don’t know, I don’t have that expertise to answer that. What I do know is, it got stuck, it was stuck like this for over an hour, so I gave up and powered off my computer to reboot it. At this point, I tried BleachBit to take out the trash, and it worked…it just took out my desktop with it.
That is correct, the trash bin. No my trash bin is empty, I got a huge chunk of my hard drive space returned to me. It worked, it just took the baby with the bathwater out with it for lack of a better terminology.
