Logout after Sleep and reconnecting external display

Hello, fellow Linux users. I have recently started using Garuda Linux about a month ago on my laptop (Dell G5) and usually connect my external monitor to it to have a dual screen setup. The problem is many times after I wake up my laptop (from opening the lid), my laptop display is working correctly but my external display is unrecognized. I usually have to unplug and plug the HDMI connector, only for nothing to happen. It’s usually the 2nd time I reconnect my HDMI connector that it works, but this logs me out of the desktop session (using XFCE btw). I am forced to re-login and applications I had open will close. I’ve been using strictly Linux for 2 years now so I’m still learning things. Thank you for your help!

Welcome  and thanks for posting garuda-inxi.

We know from garuda-inxi

Are there are settings for it?
Many apps open?

Nvidia problem?
What are you using (toogle) for your dual GPU’s?

I’m not sure what you mean when you ask what I’m using for dual GPUs. Also, I can’t find any settings to fix this. There aren’t too many apps open when it logs me out. Usually I’ll just have open a web browser and a terminal emulator. I guess it’s XFCE that logs me out after re-connecting the HDMI connector. My monitor does display correctly afterwards but it’s annoying that I get logged out before it happens.

or something else?

Use a lot of RAM, so… check with top/htop.

But I can’t really help, I did not use your hardware configuration (laptop with dual GPU/second monitor).
