Login to Gnome Desktop shows search at top of screen

Whenever I first log into my Gnome desktop, it’s as if I’m in the app drawer (no app icons showing) with the search item at the top of the screen. My desktop is not expanded to it’s maximum unless I click on the desktop.

That is the default for Gnome. It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

You will need an extension if you want to disable this: No overview at start-up - GNOME Shell Extensions
