It worked. I have both KDE Plasma working fine, and now Hyprland too. Not sure how reliable the Hyprland will be, but it boots and I can login, and now begin the laborious process of trying to customize it and keep it up to date.
The MBP is fine. Sure, it is heavy and circa 2015, but it is a fine laptop. Not sure I’ll more than 2 hours on the battery at this point, but it beats leaving it to collect dust.
It is indeed a MacBook Pro from 2015. I don’t think it of it as a dumb purchase, since it cost me less than $2000 in 2015. It is 2024, so I got 9 years out of it. Call that $222 a year for a computer. Wow. Break the bank. I should ask Mom for a bigger allowance. And two plane tickets including all expenses to fly to Tahiti. $222 ought to cover it.
