Why do peeps keep posting videos from the fool that most would be happy sit a white hot cast iron frying pan on his face and leave it?
because he covers a lot of interesting topics, runs Arch and generally knows what heâs talking about? If he makes you angry, donât watch, simple as that
The most interesting thin about Nates blog post was
The issue here is that QML-based theming is just inherently dangerous because QML is code; thereâs not really a way to make QML theming safe, so weâre working on moving away from it. David Edmundson wrote about this recently, too.
So far weâve already removed QML-themability from the lock screen (a component thatâs very sensitive to stability and security needs!), and during this sprint, we hit the OSDs too. We also made plans to remove QML-themability from splash screens and login screen themes, and instead youâll simply be able to choose custom images.
However, some things will always have to contain QML code, like 3rd-party widgets and wallpaper plugins. For these, we devised a plan to sandbox them so they canât blow up the world if they misbehave. This will also make Global Themes safe, since Global Themes can include them. I wasnât able to follow all the details of the proposed sandboxing system, so others will have to fill in the blanks with their own blog posts!
Notes from the Graz Plasma sprint â Adventures in Linux and KDE
It makes sense but, is also a bit sad for the splash screen and with css coming down the line in certain areas. The bit of uniqueness plasma had an easy coding is slowly starting to fade.
Slowly but surely, Apple can introduce a regular notification day for spyware victims:

Since MICROS~1 has abolished its QA, it doesnât matter whether human intelligence or (pseudo) artificial intelligence messes up their code:
I smell an EXTREMELY LARGE load of ____ thatâs been rotting since 1995.
TranslationâŚ30% of the code was made from copywrite infringement and theft using AI to search and log data all over the internet.
I wonder if the coding for RDP happens to be that 30% made from AI we just heard the news about ![]()
NONE of it is AI just most things that claim AI use are just new search algorithms they are using and nothing more. The BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP MORONS are just too addicted to the Pumpkin Spice of the digital, which is the term AI.
The cleanup expunges roughly 14,104 lines across 80 files, with a net addition of just 38 lines. Even after excluding the FPU emulator, the kernel still sheds over a thousand lines, a tidy saving for future maintainers.
If the patches are approved, this will be the first wholesale CPU drop-off since Linux 3.8 retired the i386 in 2012. Developers have floated the idea of jettisoning the i486 since at least 2022, but momentum finally coalesced after Torvaldâs public nudge.
Lastly, who gets hurt? Practically speaking, very few, or to put it bluntly, no one. The last commercial i486 rolled off production lines in 2007, and modern kernels rarely run on such vintage silicon outside hobbyist retro-computing circles. For those edge-case users, older long-term-support kernelsâor full-system emulatorsâremain viable escapes.
New superfast non-volatile memory could replace RAM and SSDs in the future?
- More power efficient than SSD
- 10,000x faster than SSD
Donât I need two separate RAM and SSD, but all in one non-volatile memory is more than enough for small computer space? If so, can I forget about swap?
Btrfs CLEAR_FREE is a more extensible version of FITRIM that does more than just TRIM/DISCARD but can be used for secure erase, zeroing out unused blocks, and extended with other capabilities.
Cybersecurity researchers have discovered three malicious Go modules that include obfuscated code to fetch next-stage payloads that can irrevocably overwrite a Linux systemâs primary disk and render it unbootable.
The names of the packages are listed below -

Gmail users have been hit by a torrent of phishing scams in recent months â but Google says donât panic if you fall for one.
Even if youâre locked out of your account by one of these password-stealing scams, the tech giant says you can still regain access for up to a week.
All users need to do is ensure they have a recovery phone number or email set up in their accounts, which will allow them to answer security questions and verify their identity.
So anyone who doesnât have these backups enabled should do so now, says Google.
I wasnât fond of KDEâS new version of their system monitor for KDE 6. Iâve been using Mission Center instead for a fair while now and I really like it. I keep Mission Center and Htop both running full time to keep a close watch on whatâs happening with my system.
The only thing I donât like about Mission Center is that itâs fairly heavy on resources, but I have plenty of ram so thatâs not a big deal to me.
An old laptop is sufficient for what I do, so I use Btop as a system monitor. If I had a good gaming machine Iâd be happy to use Mission Center because of its comprehensive nature.
I tried it but its to gtk/windows for me. an it has some issue with nix. lol All I need is btop-rocm and zenith
Switzerland is on the verge of copying authoritarian surveillance states
Will internet users have to identify themselves with an ID or telephone number in future?
Who would have thought it?
Everyone who knows the Swiss secret service laws and surveillance laws. Thatâs why Iâm not a friend of companies like Proton, which advertise that Switzerland respects privacy and data protection. That has simply been a lie for a long time.
Donât you already do that when you sign up for an ISP or cellphone provider?
Yes, but not on Threema or Proton.
In the end, we would also have to demand this here in the forum, as we have more than 5000 users who can send each other PNs or use the chat.
If this goes through in Switzerland, it wonât be long before other countries follow suit.
Whether dictatorships or not, it is the wet dream of all secret services and other agencies.
In the past, they simply opened all letters, not only in the GDR, but the FRG was no better. The fact that they have not been able to achieve anything with the flood of data is something they now hope to overcome with AI.
Yes we are going to befored to an updated AOL. ![]()
