palo alto firewall has bug in it’s telemetry system that allows remote command injection. Asks users to turn it off and apply patch and then turn it back on… Really turn telemetry back on in a firewall…

Microsoft tests ads in Windows Start menu

While not surprising at all, it’s infuriating for those that have to use Windows for work (me). It wouldn’t surprise me if someone comes up with a tool to block ads from within Windows now. Lol Thank God I run Linux everywhere else outside of work!

The Gentoo Council, which steers how Gentoo Linux’s development progresses, has passed a motion that bans the use of any kind of AI tool or AI-generated content to contribute to the development of Gentoo. The motion states that:

It is expressly forbidden to contribute to Gentoo any content that has
been created with the assistance of Natural Language Processing artificial intelligence tools. This motion can be revisited, should a case been made over such a tool that does not pose copyright, ethical and quality concerns.

It turns out this longtime open-source Nouveau driver developer is now employed by NVIDIA Corp and continuing to work on the open-source Linux graphics driver.

I wouldn’t say it’s a smart move by Gentoo, but it’s the right move. Perhaps they could leave some room for AI tools to pentest their security.

Well, from the content, I don’t think they have banned pentesting like things through AI, they have just banned code generation part :eyes:

minq-ananicy now supports regex for rule names. It probably doesn’t impact many people, but those who make custom rules should be pleased

Thankfully, the Flatpak team has promptly responded with patches to this vulnerability. Users are strongly encouraged to update their Flatpak installations to the following versions to ensure they are protected:

For users on the stable branch, Flatpak version 1.14.6 or newer.
For those on older stable branches, version 1.12.9 or 1.10.9 are the safe bets.
Developers using the developmental branch should update to version 1.15.8 or above.

Please note that Flatpak’s versions older than 1.10.9, including the entire 1.8.x series are no longer supported and will not receive this crucial update.

System76 April COSMIC Updates

Really curious what a Garuda COSMIC would look like.

Meh, in Linux we unashamedly borough or steal from whomever we want. That’s why Garuda’s KDE is the GOAT.

Oh I agree. I’ve tried about every distro’s KDE (the one’s with specialized desktops) and agree that Garuda’s is GOAT. I’m more so just curious what the team would do to make the COSMIC desktop BETTER haha
