As a side note re theming in KDE 6, it is all a mess. Discover doesn’t update any of the themes anymore, which means you have to do it manually, and that is a pain, applying changes for each element. This also applies for widgets. Wayland lacks support for a lot of KDE6’s global menus (Octopi/Inkscape, to name a few) and can make using those applications problematic. I switched back to X11 until they get the global menu issues ironed out, however, theming is problematic across the board.

And I think Discover has (slightly) spoiled us you, @RodneyCK.

The weird thing is that Discover’s theming, addons, flatpaks, etc. worked fine when I ran Testing in pre-release and right after Plasma 6 was released to Arch’s Stable repos and I switched back to them.

But after I did a “clean” install, Discover decided to only offer flatpaks. So it is something regarding Plasma 6 that isn’t being properly linked to & pulling in from KDE Look. Dunno why just yet.

I typically only use 1 or 2 global themes & individual iconsets. Easy-peasy.

This too shall pass, Big Red Rod.

Like everything isn’t connected. I got spoiled because KDE5 updating themes was easy-peasy. I am sure it and global menus in Wayland will be ironed out in time, 100 more updates and two years later. I can wait…sure… :face_with_diagonal_mouth: :weary:

Fortunately, KDE is not going to sit idly by. David mentions that in the short term, they intend to properly communicate the security implications of extensions users download for their Plasma desktops.

In the long term, they plan to separate the “safe” content from the “unsafe” content, while also integrating curation and auditing into the store with improved sandbox support.

He also adds that:

If you install content from the store, I would advise checking it locally or looking for reviews from trusted sources.

I agree with David, users should always check reviews of anything they get from the KDE Store, or even from any other software store for that matter.

Does this mean Shuttleworth now imagines himself royalty? Now that he resides in the United Kingdom, I guess he has his sight set on becoming Lord Shuttleworth. :crown:

Plasma 6.0.3 will ship next week with yet more fixes while some feature work toward Plasma 6.1 is also underway.

Floorp is going closed source to stop people from being able to fork it. :unamused:

“Maybe we will open the code someday but it’s too good to let anyone just use it for free” is the same stance Vivaldi has had for years, so perhaps this aligns with the whole idea of Floorp being the “Vivaldi of Firefox.”
