Light Theme Mokka

Hey

I installed Mokka this morning and wondering if there’s a light theme? Is it possible to have the Mokka layout but using a light theme?

As the name suggests, “Mokka” is a dark theme - if it wasn’t, this Garuda spin would be called “Milk”.

You can experiment a little with Colors, Application Style and Plasma Style in the “System Settings” → “Global Theme”. But whether you can achieve what you want is questionable, as the Mokka theme and the associated configs are very deeply anchored in the system. Other things you have to adjust are SDDM, Lock Screen, terminal, Panel Colorizer etc.
“Garuda Mokka” is not just a dark theme but an independent Garuda spin based on KDE Plasma, just like ‘Garuda Dr460nized’ for example.

As @nepti mentioned it’s by definition a dark theme.
All this and why is explained in the Release Notes under the WHICH COLOR PALETTE section.

If you want a light theme you have to change a lot of elements to get it there, but since everything we did is again explained in the Release Notes you can have a good idea of what to do on your system to make it light.

Just use Garuda Linux KDE lite.

Grab this here Catppuccin Latte Colors - pling.com
Run paru ocs-url in terminal first install it then on the website click install. You can just download it and manually place it but its a time waster.

and change the accent color to taste.

Hi

Sorry for the noob question. Not much experienced with ricing distros.

I have installed ocs-url and fetched the theme colors from pling. Now how do I change the color to a light theme?

go to settings → colors & themes → colors and pick it there. don’t forget to hit apply

I installed latte colors from the ocs-url. Now I see only this color, applying it breaks the current theme (still broken after a restart)

Edit:

For example, after applying that color:

You can tweak the parts you don’t like here.

but rather then click save click save as so you have a baseline. if you cant get it how you like you can apply the mokka one again an if you want tweak it to a light theme.
I think changing you accent color up top would help a lot

I’m struggling to make this work. By any chance do you have something like a config file that I can save and apply? Maybe based on that I can make small changes.

Very sorry if I am bothering you a lot.

I dont personally have a light theme for it but you can find them located ~/.local/share/color-schemes/

or you can save this as a .colors file in the same location with your changes. you also might be able to find one closer to what you want using the get new tool/pling website.

Get new

@elite OK. I think I am happy with the theme I have now. Is there are way to save my theme config so that I can tweak more and if I don’t like I can revert to my saved theme?

And by the way what’s the theme of the terminal prompt used in Garuda mokka? I saw the release notes but didn’t find its name there.

Thanks for your assistance!!

You can only really save the color profile everything else you would have to save the config files if you did any changes to them. as every part of the theme is its own thing. There used to be a command line tool and a gui one but both devs stepped down before plasma 6 and they no longer work.

It’s a bit manual but you can make a folder somewhere and back up the parts as they are now. For things you have added or changed it will be in .local here is where everything theme wise is located.

For the konsole and other mokka things most of where to get them are here Release Notes and Migration | Garuda Linux wiki as stated above but mainly on the gitlab

If you just want to theme it like the rest of your system here is how,
*Note your global menu at the top will likely be to the left.

After making a new profile, setting it to default and clicking Appearance. You can go to “get new” and grab one or if you manually put one in its folder, it will be in its list on a fresh start of the app.
