So here is my scoop, I just installed a program called LibrePCB so I can do all the fancy electronic stuff I do. It took much effort to get it installed but it is, but when I click the menu icon where it installed (Menu/Development/LibrePCB). Nothing happens.

So let me break down what I had to do to get this installed.

  1. It wanted me to install Debug Edit, don’t know why but it did. I did the following command,

sudo pacman -S debugedit

  1. Pacman starts downloading the required packages to install LibrePCB and it stalls out because it cannot find the polyclipping packages it needs to install with. So I had to go to Arch Linux User Repository and get that package off of git, from this location Package Details: polyclipping 6.4.2-4. I had done the following steps:

git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/polyclipping.git
cd polyclipping
makepkg -si

  1. Now that polyclipping is installed, now I can do:

sudo pacman -S librepcb

And that installed with no issues. I then reboot my computer, and try again…nope, it just sits there.

Any ideas?

Are you sure you installed it with pacman?
I can’t see it in the Arch repo nor in the Chaotic-AUR.
Retry with paru:

paru librepcb

(exit from PKGBUILD preview with button q)
In the AUR there is also the git version, that you could try.

paru librepcb-git

But I think some qt6 dependencies are missing there in the PKGBUILD. But you’ll have them, if you try the non git version first.
And even a librepcb-appimage, which is older.
If they don’t work, launch them from terminal, to see possible error messages.

Reboot open

  • After rebooting, post the FULL output of garuda-inxi in the body of the post (not linked externally, or collapsed with the “hide details” feature)

BTW

garuda-inxi

no sudo needed.

That post was after rebooting, but here, I will post it again

do I uninstall what I put in already? Do I have to remove the polyclipping package that I installed with git? Will this cause a package conflict? I hope not because I don’t know how to remove a git installed package

No need to uninstall the previous package. It should be reinstalled or replaced. You can keep the other, which is a dependency, so you just already have it.

Good hint.
Also RAM usage is High.
I try to keep my system as free as possible when building packages.

Would that explain a few things?

This is what I get:

The code starts to be compiled automatically when you press q and exit PKGBUILD preview.

The download keeps failing and it resets from 0% every single time it drops, it doesn’t build on what it has in memory. Is there some other way to download this file so I can continue with it?

As said, probably that PKGBUILD is to be updated.
