Latest round of Plasma updates break Dra460nized theme in SDDM

I just updated several Plasma packages that are, at most, 2 days old (probably more like 1 day).

I had some bluetooth issues immediately after update, so I opted to reboot (seems to be working now) and SDDM became grumpy. My dual monitor setup has reverted to what I presume is the default theme, with an onscreen keyboard taking up the entirety of my main display and a login window on the other with the following error message:

The current theme cannot be loaded due to the errors below, please select another theme.
file:///usr/share/sddm/themes/Dr460nized/Main.qml:214:25: Cannot assign to non-existent property “fontSize”

I’m able to log in fine, and if necessary can assign another theme to work around for now, just wanted to report that there’s something afoot for the time being and maybe get a ping back whenever that wrinkle is worked out. Thanks!

Well, it’s a shame it became difficult to have KDE-git running, I couldn’t see that one coming.

If 6.2 is now available on Arch (I didn’t check today, seems it is according to your update), I will update and check on that.

Tnx for reporting

Is it this SDDM?

Should be, that’s the Dr460nized SDDM Theme. It’s working on 6.2 for me.

Could you put the output of cat /usr/share/sddm/themes/Dr460nized/Main.qml
And also output from /usr/share/sddm/themes/Dr460nized/theme.conf

Identical error for each:

(and yes, the theme screenshot you provided above matches how the system appeared until today when logging in)

You’re not even able to cat the files?
There’s a problem somewhere else, cat should simply list what is in the file and display the data, not execute or run something and error on it.

I’m not sure how to attack that one…

Can you try cat on another file in /usr/share/themes/? Another folder than Dr460nized.

I’ve moved on to the Sweet theme and I’m getting the same issue.

ownership of everything in that folder is root, so I’ve given cat sudo permissions and got an output.

╰─λ sudo cat /usr/share/sddm/themes/Dr460nized/Main.qml

Ok nice one. Not sure if it’s like that by default now, I never had to do it on my machines but at least you got output!

All this is quite different than what I have (on 2 machines):

╰─λ cat /usr/share/sddm/themes/Dr460nized/theme.conf
File: /usr/share/sddm/themes/Dr460nized/theme.conf

Did you modify the theme at some point?

Not to my knowledge. I try not to touch grub or sddm stuff when I can help it just out of an abundance of caution.

My question was useless anyway, you mentioned you have the same issue with Sweet SDDM theme…

What other themes you got available?
Let’s try them all and see which one(s) works. Or if none work… that’s mainly the reason for testing this.

There’s something way off with your theme.conf file.
The source file located here shows what I pasted above from my machines.

How on Earth is yours so different…

You could also rename theme.conf to something else and use the data I pasted in a new theme.conf file. Maybe that will fix that SDDM theme.

I’m going to have to pause figuring this out for a bit, a sudden emergency has come up. I’ll reply again as soon as I’m able to get back to it.

I think I may have worked out what’s going on.

Is garuda-dr460nized-next a deprecated branch or something along those lines? I don’t know why that’s the one I had, but I’m going to try switching over to one of the others.

EDIT: Switched over to the -git tagged pkg (see 2nd edit), applied global, rebooted. Not sure why I was on that other version but everything seems to work correctly now.

SECOND EDIT: Per FGD further down the thread, garuda-dr460nized is the package that’s currently maintained and if anyone had a similar issue that’s the package to switch to. I’ve switched over to it consistent with that advice.

Yes, it was the testing package back when we were preparing for KDE 6. At some point we transitioned people over via replaces(), I’m wondering why this didn’t seem to work for you.

can confirm, their issue isn’t quite as isolated as it seems at first glance. Atleast 2 of my systems have that issue(garuda-dr460nized-next was installed). on both systems a simple sudo pacman -Sy garuda-dr460nized-git was used and both were fixed.

p.s. the second pc needed me to run sudo pacman -Sy garuda-dr460nized-git a second time in order to get the “application bar on the bottom” back. once i did it seems fixed.

Is there a reason why you are using the git version?
It is not maintained, although it should be very close to garuda-dr460nized in terms of files, some late fixes may not have landed in the git version.

what OP switched too and marked as solution

Oh yeah, I see. Luck is it working fine.
In the end people should be running garuda-dr460nized and no other package.

Swapping now, thanks for the heads up

second pc listed above, updated to the non-git/non-next version successfully

first pc listed above, updated to the non-git/non-next version successfully

neither pc seems to have needed me to run the command twice!!!
