Konsole segfail / Konsole Crash

After the last update and the reboot does not open Konsole. When trying to open Konsole via Alacrity I get the following:

What could be the problem? What am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance.

I do not know what went wrong but I have a couple questions, then a possible answer.

Do you normally open Konsole with Alacrity?
And it works?
I do not have Alacrity installed so I can't test, but Konsole does successfully open Konsole. Is that true for you?

I had a big update in KDE Plasma this morning. If that is also true for you, it is possible that something in there may have messed-up Konsole's config, or corrupted it's operational ability. Or a host of others.
Have you read the journal output after the last update? If not, do so and look for changes.

So try this first, it's an easy one. First, uninstall Konsole.
Then reboot aand goto ~home/yourusername/.config. It's a hidden directory that contains many KDE and other application configuration files.
Look for .konsolerc. That's a Konsole config.
Delete it. Won't hurt anything. Or rename it if you wear suspenders with a belt ;).
Re-install Konsole.
Without doing anything else, reboot.
After you log in, open Konsole and set your defaults. Just click on it. No Alacrity yet.
Assuming Konsole works at all, open Konsole with Konsole. Does it work?
If it does, try the same with Alacrity--open Konsole with it. Does it work? Good, you're a genius. No it doesn't? I'm a dunce. Could be Alacrity.
Do the same as above, but with Alacrity. Uninstall, destroy any configs, reinstall.
After everything else, you may just have to look for and apply a fix or wait for a fix.
And it may be something else altogether.
Oh yeah, search this forum and the Arch forums for similar posts & also check for bug reports.

Probably should do the stuff in that last line first.

The problem was in incorrect configuration of Konsolerc. Thank you so much! I could not even think about it! After deleting the configuration file, everything worked. :grinning:

I filed a bug report earlier.

You can work around this bug easily:
Edit ~/.config/konsolerc
change SaveGeometryOnExit to true:

[KonsoleWindow]
SaveGeometryOnExit=true

See? You're a genius. applause all 'round

Another genius. Much shorter fix, too!
