The ‘delete’ key on a Mokka laptop deletes the character above the cursor and continues towards the right (expected) in Konsole. The ‘delete’ key on Dragonized desktop (Logi MX Keys S keyboard) deletes the character to the left of the cursor and continues to the left (unexpected) in Konsole. In both pc’s all applications i.e. Kate, LibreOffice Writer, etc, the delete key deletes to the right (expected). Both pc’s have the same applications installed. Both are built with the respective …250308 iso’s (running KDE, wayland).
I ran on both pc’s:
╰─λ bind -a | grep -i delete
bind --preset shift-delete history-pager-delete or backward-delete-char
bind --preset -k sdc history-pager-delete or backward-delete-char
bind --preset ctrl-d delete-or-exit
bind --preset delete delete-char
bind --preset backspace backward-delete-char
bind --preset shift-backspace backward-delete-char
bind --preset ctrl-h backward-delete-char
bind --preset ctrl-delete kill-word
bind delete _autopair_backspace
The last line (autopair_backspace) is what’s different, it appears on the desktop not on the laptop.
I tried to search in my .config and .local folders for something that might be setting the delete key, but couldn’t find anything. I originally saw this (unexpected) on the laptop running test Dragonized iso’s but thought it was due to KDE development, so forgot about it.
Currently I’m avoiding xmodmap and other key binding applications, in the hope I just need to unset something.
