Thanks @SGS . I saw in the topic Kwin_x11 crashing repeatedly that the OP tried these steps without luck, but anyway the problem may be specific to my setup so I'll test that as well and monitor the progress. Also there's a new KDE version on the doorstep so maybe it'll get resolved
