KDE 6 repository / testing

yeah, what @BluishHumility said.

chaotic-aur-kde and kde-unstable are 2 different repos.

again, a bump on a lib from kwin broken kwin, but I already fix it!

Maybe only update packages when I am around to do an immediate test right away, what does anyone think of the idea? (this in this period where libs api isnt frozen)

Absolutely, and thanks for reminding me of that.

I know, and thanks.

It gets difficult at times when friends reside here–I mean good friends, some I’ve known for years–but/and I run such a closely related distribution. I try to be helpful where possible, but sometimes the apples are disguised as oranges. Please bear with me.

Didn’t quite understood! and what do you mean that sometimes Apples are disguised with much better, juicer and healthier fruits ?

Just different methodology to receive the same results, i.e. ‘garuda-update’ does not exist in my Arch world (but it is a cool script).

Where it really gets confusing is trying to remember which different methods go with which distribution I’m running at the time, Arch or Garuda. Or Arch and Garuda.

Like every distribution I have ever run, little things make the difference, and I am easily confounded.

Hey @alexjp , do you think packages will get a little more stable in terms of packaging (not code-wise) with the soft feature freeze of the Alpha release tomorrow?

Hello everyone,
For an accessibility related reason, the screen reader not being available in any iso, I cannot install Garuda.
My question is if I can enable this testing repo on vanilla Arch and try it there.
Thanks a bunch for any answer.

That would not work. Why not install it in the normal way after installing Garuda?

Maybe we can fix that in the future, that orca is default in Garuda ISO’s.

I updated to plasma 6 and it rebooted like this

Until and unless the screen reader gets put into the isos, I can’t install Garuda thus I can’t use everything the “Normal way”.
I hope that clarifies things a bit more.
Thanks for the reply though, now I know not to mess with the repos

I asked a simple question. It is a shame Orca reader isn’t there like it is in Arch.

Seems like orca doesn’t work in the installer ISO, but maybe @dalto can explain that better than me

I don’t believe Orca is capable of reading the installer unfortunately. I believe it can’t access it since it is a Qt application running as root.

I think that an initial version will be hitting kde-unstable on Arch very soon if you can’t use this.

Why would it not work?

Confusion about what repository belongs to whom. It’s like that phonetic puzzle I learned as a child, "Which witch is which?

LTNS @dalto! How you been?

I know you asked a simple question, please, don’t take my answer as me being pissed off or irritated, it wasn’t intended as that at all. I am sorry if it came out the wrong way.
English not being my native language and me teaching myself wasn’t such a good idea

Thank you so much for the explanation @dalto.
you are right, Orca is not capable to do that. It would be kind of a foolish thing to add it to the isos if the installer can’t even be read.

Well, please quit reading your own wishes into my questions or replies. I normally run plain old vanilla Arch when not Garuda, and I am much more familiar with Arch. I had no idea Orca wasn’t in Garuda ISOs.

Unless you’re a professional whiner, quit.

Sorry for late replying… Definitely much more stable after the code freeze, but I am a little in doubt if its tomorrow or 1 week before beta.

I think the 1 week before beta is just for KDE gear, not desktop, but not sure!

The Alpha is around the corner NOT the beta.
